Track Breakdown: Silva Bumpa on the Making of “Hypa”

Silva Bumpa knows how to make a club track stick. The Manchester producer pairs the rude basslines and restless swing of UK garage with hooks built to follow you home. Right now, few artists are capturing the rush around those sounds quite like him.

His breakout anthem “On 2nite” has been one of 2026’s hottest tracks and a major force in UKG’s resurgence. Alongside a wider run of club records, it helped make Silva Bumpa Beatport’s fifth overall best-selling artist between January and June, according to our mid-year report. He has kept that momentum rolling alongside Interplanetary Criminal on “HOLD DA PHONE,” one of the summer’s most hotly tipped UKG singles and currently sitting at Beatport's #4 overall spot on the Top 100 chart.

His HYPA EP has been another big part of that run. Released May 22 via Room Two Recordings, the four-track project is led by its title track with West London MC Specialist Moss. Silva built “Hypa” to fill a gap in his sets: something catchy that could raise the energy without going straight for the biggest moment of the night.

He starts with chopped-up sound effects and an echo that bounces from side to side, using those small details to give the track its restless speed garage rhythm. The vocal takes its cue from an older track before being re-recorded by Specialist Moss. Multiple takes and a handful of effects turn it into the sharp, telephone-like hook heard in the finished version.

Underneath, one long, deep bass note answers two short, punchy “donk” hits. Extra layers thicken the bass without making it muddy, while a huge clap, filtered synths, snare rolls and rising effects keep the tension climbing. A few carefully placed changes make the second drop hit harder without knocking the groove off course.
