Rosey Gold: Beatport Next Artist Stories 2026

Rosey Gold does not rush a room. Her sets usually sit between 120 and 123 BPM, beginning slower than some club crowds might expect before steadily climbing towards the point where, as she puts it, everyone is “proper grooving.”

The London-based South African DJ and producer grew up between Johannesburg and Dublin, two places with very different relationships to music. Dublin meant live bands playing in pubs. Johannesburg gave her something heavier. Even when the music was fun and made for dancing, she could still hear the country’s history, struggle and pain running through it.

Gold started DJing only five years ago. It was just for fun at first. Things changed when she realized people were genuinely curious about the music she was playing – and that there still were not enough people sharing those sounds. One turning point came at Germany’s Parookaville festival, where thousands showed up for her set. She had not expected anything close to that crowd. Since then, she has secured a Club Room residency at Hï Ibiza alongside Black Coffee and Damian Lazarus, played Honey Dijon’s closing party at Chinois and taken the main stage at AfroNation.

Her first release, “Kanye West,” a collaboration with Jay Music, arrived in 2023, followed by her debut EP, Deep Rooted. She later used the same name for an event series exploring African culture through music, conversation and visual art. Her next two-tracker, Better Wait, arrives July 31 on Shimza’s Kunye imprint. Gold names Shimza as one of her biggest inspirations, admiring both his technical skill behind the decks and the way he has remained true to his culture while bringing others along. It is an ethos that closely mirrors her own.

For Gold, getting further means helping others do the same. Her long-term goal is to bring more African artists into the rooms and onto the stages she is now reaching.
