Tailor Jae: Beatport Next Stories 2025
East London's Tailor Jae is a DJ and producer known for her fearless, bass-heavy sets and genre-bending approach to club music.
She first cut her teeth playing pirate radio sets with her brother, teaching herself how to mix and quickly developing the raw, London-infused style that defines her sound today. With an ear for jungle, grime, garage, 140/dubstep, and everything in between, Tailor Jae has built a reputation as one of the most eclectic selectors in the UK – unafraid to throw polished perfection aside in favor of authentic energy that makes both the crowd and the sound system come alive.
Her breakthrough moment came in 2023 with her debut single, "The Wheel," which was championed by Mary Anne Hobbs as the BBC 6 Music Future Track of the Day. A year later, she teamed up with T. Williams for Bruk Out on Unknown To The Unknown, a jungle breakbeat weapon that further cemented her fearless, bass-driven identity. Since joining the Beatport Next Class of 2025, she's collaborated with grime heavyweight Manga Saint Hilare on "Diss One" and contributed the dubstep-inspired "Airyte" to the Superclasico Vol. 2 compilation.
On stage, her credentials speak volumes: opening for Chase & Status at KOKO, sharing a bill with Goldie at Razzmatazz, playing Switzerland's 300,000-capacity Paleo Festival, and holding down sets at legendary venues like Fabriclive. Viral Boiler Room appearances and Mixmag competition wins have only expanded her reach, while her own project, Heavy On The Bass (HOTB), continues to champion experimental, bass-focused sounds.
As she puts it best: "Genreless at heart, heavy on the bass."
