p-rallel Explores Beatport Streaming on the CDJ-3000s: A Game-Changer for DJs

Beatport recently sat down with West London DJ and producer p-rallel to explore how Beatport Streaming on the CDJ-3000s is reshaping the way he approaches live sets. Known for his eclectic blend of garage, house, funky, amapiano, jungle, rap, R&B, soul, jazz, reggae, and dub, p-rallel is constantly pushing the boundaries of genre and crowd connection.

“As a DJ, I lose my USB a lot,” he admits. “Having Beatport Streaming on the CDJs has now allowed me to access my sets in a way where if I don't have my laptop and I'm in a different country, I can easily just use the Beatport app to create a playlist… experiment with stuff that I don't have downloaded on my USB, it’s easy access. I can just search it up and drop it.”

For p-rallel, the integration isn’t about replacing his crates, but enhancing them. By unlocking Beatport’s extensive catalog directly from the decks, he’s able to pivot seamlessly between subgenres, tailor his sets to the energy of the room, and uncover new sounds in real time. “If I have someone in the audience that wants me to play a certain thing, it’s much easier for me to go and find that vibe and have an inspiration to experiment in my sets,” he explains.

This flexibility is especially vital when traveling, as different audiences call for different styles. “It’s very easy for me to use streaming, find the subgenres of the music that I do play, and still interact with the audience. As soon as I get to the CDJs, it’ll be right there ready for me.”

P-rallel also sees Beatport Streaming as a powerful entry point for new DJs still developing their identity. “If you don’t have a full crate of music yet… having Beatport there to find what you want to play, the genres you want to play, then being like, ‘Cool, this is the route I want to take,’ makes it a bit easier to know who you are as a DJ.”

With streaming, he says, it’s not about replacing the art of digging - it’s about expanding the possibilities of what a DJ set can become.
