Following the release of her debut album, Introspekt shares an incendiary selection of tactical club cuts – teeming with dubwise energy and waistline-shaking rhythms – for Beatport's Playlist of the Week.

Hey everyone, Introspekt here! One of the central themes of my debut album Moving The Center is the mutually constitutive relationship between past, present and future. Since my DJ style revolves around a hybrid vinyl-digital approach, my selections tend to reach back to moments that may sit buried a bit deeper in our musical memory; placing them in conversation with more contemporary output. This is reflected in this playlist which, in addition to songs from Moving The Center, features newer recent dance floor delicacies and tracks from previous years that have aged like fine wine.

Introspekt's debut album, Moving The Center, is out now via Tempa. Buy it on Beatport.

Introspekt - Afro Bass [Tempa]

The second track from my debut album ‘Moving The Center’. I think of this one as the sort of “thesis statement”of the album. Dubstep bass warps dance between buoyant syncopated Baltimore-style kicks. The track features prominently breathy sensual moans drenched in dub echo and delay. A dubwise club track through and through!

DJ B.Boy, Tia Maria Produções - Kuribotas [Principe]

This offering from one of my favorite labels based out of Lisbon, Principe, has been on constant rotation in my sets lately. Deep spacious sonics and sensual recursive rhythmic sequencing. Built to make you move that waistline in a circle!

BLUMITSU - Metamorphic [Tempa]

One of my favorite bass/electro tracks released in recent years. A track with deep meaning as well as a fat beat. Deep heavy bass kicks pound through the cosmic space as Jossy’s thought provoking-vocals about change and possibility take you on a journey. It’s metamorphic!!

Ehua - Aria [3024]

An absolutely exquisite rhythmic libation from one of my favorite producers, Ehua. Intricate geometric cross-rhythms weave across a pulsing melodic soundscape. Whenever I play this one I feel the tears welling up in my eyes – such a moving song.

Jialing, Farsight - WHISTLE TIP (FARSIGHT FLIP) [Clasico]

Such a phenomenal collaborative EP from Baltimore’s Jialing and SF’s Farsight. I couldn’t really pick a favorite from this to be honest they are all future classic club bangers. Farsight’s flip of "WHISTLE TIP" is such a hot meeting point of global club influences with some half-step flavorings.

DJ Marfox - Drift Furioso [Principe]

2006 Batida classic from Lisbon’s DJ Marfox. Easily the best flip of the Tokyo Drift anthem I’ve come across. Gets the dance floor jumping every time.

Calvo Music, SDOT, Jialing - DUMMY (Kade Young Remix) [WOE]

Spacious club flip from one of Baltimore’s finest producers. The gogo drums throughout the track have to be my favorite addition. It’s giving DMV down! And then the thump comes in at the end?! Insane remix of an already brilliant collaborative track. 10/10

Introspekt - Fractal [Tempa]

This track from Moving The Center feels like a special personal achievement for me. Sonic fractals assert their presence in the space between the intricate drum patterns. Bouncy club kicks thump in conversation with a variety of hand drums and rumbling sub bass. This one was a later addition to the album that sees my dubwise sensibility toward club music fully realized.

RHR - Y6Y9 [Nice & Deadly]

Heavy trippy soulful cut from one of my favorite producers, São Paulo’s RHR. Splashes of electro are accompanied by traditional Afro-Brazilian instrumentation (maybe some Bermimbau?) as subtle square wave warps pulse in and out. A masterpiece of a track.

INVT - JUGO DE MORA [INVT]

One of my all-time favorite tracks from two of my favorite producers and good buddies, INVT. Recursive clave rhythms whip your head and hips into a whirlwind of movement. Impactful kicks and bass embody the dynamic, uncontrollable energy of a flame dancing in the wind. Can’t imagine this track ever leaving my USB.
