AISHA's Arsenal: 10 Psychedelic Techno Weapons That Hit Hard

AISHA
Psy-techno, or psychedelic techno, is a pretty niche type of techno that had made its way onto main stages across the world recently. Championed by artists such as Indira Paganotto and Sara Landry, the music is fast paced, with hard kicks and signature rolling basslines, alongside trippy sounds or vocals that can take ravers into a new dimension.
It's a perfect blend of pys-trance and techno. This is the type of music I like to play and make, so let's take a journey together with this playlist as I show you some of the freshest producers in the game who are championing this mind-warping sound.
When PALØ sends me his latest unreleased, I always listen because his music is always exactly what i am looking for! Super hard kicks, prominent bassline, techno screeches and rawstyle breakdowns combined with mantras to truly build up to a rollercoaster ride of a track. This one is a peak time banger.
Carlo Russo from Italy is one of my favourite producers at the moment. His tracks are perfect for peak time moments - very hard, with a catchy vocal to lighten things up. This is a more techno vibe but i feel like the vocals bring that trippy edge.
From my EP with TELETECH, this is a 157 BPM psychedelic journey. I use ableton to make all my tracks, this one I made pretty quickly using an amazing vocal sample and the rest of the track just followed nicely. I also put some conga's in there to give some extra groove to the track - see if you can hear them.
OneFive from the UK is another producer whose tracks I always look forward to hearing when he sends them my way. His label - HALLUCINATE - perfectly capture the psychedlic hard techno movement, its worth checking out if you like screeches and BPM's around 160 mark. This track is nightmare inducing taking you on a hard trip - but not a bad one!
Released on my fellow Scottish pal FRANCK's label Carouse, when he asked me to remix one the latest tracks from one of the best producers out there right now - Funk Tribu - of course I said yes. I made the bouncy track into a psy-techno vibe, with a piano melody that WILL get stuck in your head. Enjoy the sounds!
RAVE. DANCE. DRINK. F*CK. Of course the lyrics had me in a chokehold as well as the production and melody on this track. I've been playing it in all my sets lately! The track is French queen, Uphoria, released on Amelie Lens label Exhale - a label which always delivers sound wise and supports up and coming artists.
This trippy percussive techno track is on a fearless V/A celebrating the raw talent of women in techno. Featuring some of India’s finest alongside debut artists, this compilation release isn’t just music, it’s a statement. Kollision's label, Kollision Course Records, is the only techno imprint owned by a woman in India. She is also a talented DJ/producer herself making waves across the scene - not just in India, but in Europe as well. I'm so proud whenever I see women in the scene supporting each other and paving the way for new artists.
I've just discovered this amazing producer recently, clearly taking a lot of influence from classic psy-trance but adding just enough for it to be able to be played on harder techno stages. If you've been to an AISHA set lately, you'll have heard me play this track! I love the breakdown with the whistling and the female vocals, they make the track sound super unique.
Here we have a pure psy-trance track. This one I discovered on Spotify and really loved the melody that comes into the second half of the track. Not enough is done to truly champion the sounds of psychedelia that come from its country of origin - India! I love digging and finding new artists and also really want to showcase some of the incredible psy-trance being made by Indian artists.
This track is taken from ØTTA's latest EP, and EVERY SINGLE TRACK is a total banger. All killer, no filler. 'Boys say i'm a little salty'...the vocals make this track super femme, iconic, and dare i say C*NTY? A perfect blend of a psy-trance bassline and groovy Brazilian percussion. Her style is super original.
