London-based DJ/producer, label head, and African electronic music maverick Kitty Amor delivers a tantalizing selection of upfront Afro House heat that encapsulates the universal growth of the genre in its purest form for Beatport's Playlist of the Week.

Ahead of my performance at  The Penthouse Dubai on 20th April, I am pleased to put together this special Beatportal ‘Playlist of the Week’ as a great demonstration of what is to come when experiencing my DJ sets, often referred to as ‘The Amor Effect’.

Having championed Afro House beyond the last decade, there has been a global growth in how the world is receiving the genre. Now heavily influenced by Melodic and Tech House instruments, Afro House has dominated the electronic space in recent years which I am honored to be one of a few spearhead figures within the genre's community. With this playlist, I have put together some tracks that are creating great dance floor memories and shifting the lasting impact that my sets have had. With a few tracks from my imprint, Mahaba Music, I want to give listeners an opportunity to understand how the label seeks to give a platform for upcoming producers whilst retaining high quality music for all to connect with.

Kitty Amor - Mad Neighbour [Mahaba]

I made this track after being influenced by my set at Tomorrowland’s CORE in Tulum and felt that I really needed to create something deep and dark in its attitude but evokes high energy on the dance floor. Throughout the session of making the track, I managed to literally upset the next door neighbour - hence the title.

Danidane, MAAURA - Like Dat (Ape Drums Remix) [Klub Record]

This is one of those tracks that I will always clutch for when transiting from the warm up to the peak hour of my sets. It’s been a while since an Afro Tech track has owned the dance floor each time it's heard. I had no idea that Ape Drums of Major Lazer was invested in our sound and it feels good to have his contribution through his remix work.

DJEFF, Shoba - Wena [Kazukuta Records]

Every time I play this, it's so good to see the joy that comes to people’s faces as they dance. A feel-good track that has great vocal performance from Shoba (a longstanding Afro House vocalist) with incredible production from DJEFF. Proving his diversity in how the sound can strike a balance between dance floor and listening pleasure.

Kenza, Atmos Blaq, Citizen Deep - Afrika My Afrika (feat. Mpho.Wav) [Platoon]

South Africa’s most exciting upcoming producers coming together to authentically display the richness in our sound. The chants, the shaker movement, the feeling encapsulates what the music birthed in South Africa has successfully become.

Masšh - Ilanga (Samm BE Remix) [One People]

Been obsessed with the original as its one of the smoothest Afro-electro tracks full of intensity. This remix by Samm (BE) really took it to the next level making it easy to translate on the dance floor and I love how it sounds in big room clubs.

AVG (IT) - Suave [Mahaba]

An upcoming producer who I am proud to have on my imprint as this track really showcased his talent in creating statement music. I debuted this track at Tomorrowland Colombia and this track was by far the most captured moment of the set.

DJ Tomer, Ricardo Gi, Gil Bokobza - Donin (feat. Ahmed Sosso) [My Other Side of the Moon]

Soulful and rich in the piano chords, culturally powerful with Ahmed Sosso’s strong vocals and this track has created beautiful moments during daytime festival sets. Made for iconic sunset moments and gives all the feels each time it is dropped.

Emmanuel Jal, Bun Xapa - Chaak [Higher Ground]

Something about an Emmanuel Jal track that always feels fun - his style of writing and vocal delivery just lightens up the dance floor which makes it fun to perform during a set. I’ve been an avid follower of Bun Xapa since his early days and seeing the maturity in how his productions have consequently turned into hits - I am enjoying the quality music he is making.

JAMIIE, Tabia, Owa Oda - Indawo Yonke [Sondela Recordings]

I had the pleasure of playing a back-to-back set with JAMIIE to which she gave a first play of this track and I love the beautiful use of the piano throughout a synth-dominant production line. Loving the strong feminine energy felt in this track with all-female collaboration and I appreciate the rawness in the spiritual vocals.

Frigid Armadillo, Sun-El Musician - Sunshine [Defected]

Sunshine in name and sunshine in feeling. I instantly feel happy when I hear this track and love seeing how it's being enjoyed. True South African talent on the powerhouse label Defected is a celebration of how far the music continues to transcend. Although it is not the most peak-time track, when played during my sets it really does keep the crowd feeling good and engaging with the journey of the music.
