The 9th Chapter of Black Book ID’s is Here: Check out the Exclusive Q&A Below

Black Book Records announces the 9th chapter of its eponymous ID’s album, highlighting the series’ most diverse range of tastemakers yet. The curation captures a refreshingly broad spectrum of sound, pushing the evolution of the label’s blueprint over the years into the spotlight.
Opening up the compilation is Nariman with ‘The Music’—a road-tested weapon certified by Lake’s own touch and seal of approval. The British-Persian producer has roots in world music and a background in bands, bridging his multi-instrumentalist talent and diverse global influences for house music whose rhythmic elements draw from around the world.
Nari:
“We need to believe in something more than ever. In a world feeling more and more divisive and strained sometimes it can feel like the only thing we’ve got left is The music. So we might as well take that solo trip, spend our last penny on our friends, dance and watch the bass slap because we know we can at least always say “The Music got me”
Black Book Records favorite Marco Strous, who is no stranger to the label, puts a shocking spin on a Miami Bass classic that is sure to get some reactions. He’s got a track record among luminaries like Skrillex, Four Tet, FISHER for the trademark grit of his production which listeners will hear on ‘Tootsie Pop’.
Marco:
“I wanted a record that perfectly encapsulates the sounds that influenced me growing up with different genres. Tootsie Pop has it all for me - the house groove, the playfulness from old electro beats, the attitude of hip hop, the subtle undertones from UK dubstep... Black Book has allowed me the platform to really lean into my tastes following up from Snogo and In The Park.”
Brazil’s Roddy Lima returns to the label with ‘Crystal’, distilling the hammering energy of modern tech house, and shaping it with a fresh perspective that is distinctly his own. The young tastemaker has been climbing through the ranks over the course of 2024, showing no signs of slowing down.
Roddy:
“Crystal” pulsates with hypnotic beats and ethereal soundscapes, creating an immersive atmosphere that draws listeners deep into the night. With its expertly crafted rhythms and underground energy, it perfectly aligns with the cutting-edge artistry celebrated by Black Book Records.
Next up is Miane’s ‘Taste My Flavour’, which marks a long-awaited return to the label for the producer. The track showcases a masterful balance of vocal-led grooves, backed with the Spanish rhythm she’s known for.
Miane:
“I drew inspiration from the magical atmosphere of Ibiza’s endless nights, where music and the island’s energy blend to create a sense of freedom and profound connection, translating into each verse the yearning for personal transformation.”
French producer Ocsav steps up for a solo effort on Black Book Records, after his collaboration with Cole Knight in 2024. He whips together a wickedly plush UKG groove, and imbues it with classic flavours to produce an earworm whose aesthetic is as refreshing as it is addictive.
Ocsav:
“I was looking for a closing for my sets and ended up writing it, this record keeps the energy flowing while bringing a touch of nostalgia.”
