Playlist of the Week: Gregor Tresher
I’m happy to present a selection of some of my favourite tracks to play out right now for this week’s ‘Playlist Of The Week’ feature. I’ve added a few words to describe what makes them stand out to me, and I can assure you they have been thoroughly road-tested by myself over recent months. I’ve also included a couple of my own recent tracks from my new album False Gods which dropped on November 29th via PIAS Electronique - I hope you enjoy!
It’s a big new track by my good friends Arne and Wayan on Tiga’s mighty Turbo with a relentless lead synth that you can’t escape. Also, I like the busy drum programming, which is not very typical for the boys’ usual sound but a superb new addition to their ever-progressing style.
The mighty Soma Records is always a guarantee for quality music, and this is one of many recent releases on the label that I really love. Proper no-nonsense techno by Lydvall!
Kevin Saunderson returns with his son Dante to revive his E-Dancer project, and boy, what a track to resurface! The perfect melody, the perfect arrangement, and the perfect mix! It blew me away when hearing it for the first time, but when you play it in a club, that’s when you get to grasp its full potential! ‘Instant classic’ is a description that one shouldn’t use lightly, but I guess it might fit this track already.
A huge sounding record from Ben and Fadi’s upcoming release with an über-menacing atmosphere - a thing I love in music in general, and the boys have perfected it on this record. Make sure to check out the whole album.
This is kind of the perfect dancefloor track for me, I love the melody line so much! Make sure to check out all the other incredible tracks on this huge compilation - it really doesn´t get any better than this!
Well, what can I say? Laurent came to my studio and wrote the lyrics based on a vague topic and working title I had for my instrumental. We recorded the vocal in a couple of hours and that was that! I am ever so grateful to call Laurent a friend, as he was and still is one of my idols.
My buddy Patrick from Malmö in Sweden has a new four-tracker on Parabel, and once again, he manages to come up with four dark and sophisticated techno tracks. His focus on detail and sound design is impeccable, as always; make sure to check this one out!
This record has been one of the essential tracks for me this summer. I’ve been hammering it in almost every set, and it always takes the roof off. I love the sound design and the arrangement a lot, and the sheer energy of the whole low end is just breathtaking.
This is a release on my own label, Break New Soil, by KMYLE from France. It’s his second EP on the label and I’m a big fan of his unique sound, often hitting that sweet spot between kind of an ethereal atmosphere and warehouse heaviness at the same time. Make sure to check out all five tracks.
This is one of three remixes we released following up our original release on Turbo. It’s always special to have Sven on a record, and we were both really happy with the remix package, with Inigo’s remix sounding massive and making lovely use of the original sequence.
I love the massive groove on this one. It’s super funky yet reduced. You just have to dance whenever this comes on.
