Playlist of the Week: Mama Snake
Mama Snake
Nov 6, 2024
The esteemed Danish techno DJ and label co-founder Mama Snake celebrates five years of her remarkable Amniote Editions imprint with some infallible dance floor gems for Beatport's Playlist of the Week.
This chart is a sonic profile for the five-year anniversary tour of Amniote Editions — the label and mixed multimedia platform I run with Tanya Akinola (aka T-N). Here you will find a mix of label highlights and tracks by the artists we’ve invited to join us on the massive label showcase tour, hitting clubs like Bassiani in Tbilisi, Basement in NYC, FOLD in London and Raum in Amsterdam (just to mention a few of the amazing venues we will visit on the 13 stop tour). Buckle up; this is gonna be banging!
Amniote Editions' five-year anniversary remix compilation, ECDYSIS, is out now. Buy it on Beatport.

Nene H - Treatment For Figurative Love [Standard Deviation]
Nene H is a sick producer and DJ and also a dear friend of mine who is joining the ECDYSIS tour and has supported the label with an amazing track for a fundraiser compilation we did with Ute Records a few years back. This track is one of my favorites by her and was released on the label from Kyiv institution K41 (aka Standard Deviation). Big tip — check out the label that has put out a lot of great music by Ukrainian and international artists.
Intellagama - Reciprocate (presented by Hasvat Informant) [Amniote Editions]
One of my most played tracks this year by one of the core members of the Amniote clan from so-called Australia. Hasvat Informant has released 2 EPs with us under his Intellagama moniker, and we have big plans for 2025. I love his sound design, it’s so characteristic and works well both in clubs and on big festival stages. Watch this artist!
Spekki Webu - Cycleon [Blue Hour Music]
The big Delft wizard on the decks! Spekki Webu has made this wormhole breaktek anthem released on a label I really dig and respect, Blue Hour. Spekki Webu has trusted us with his debut album, which is a diverse showcase of his sound, and he is joining the tour on multiple dates, both DJing and as a special live set. Fast-paced, psychedelic tribalism at its finest.
JASSS - Turbo Olé [AD 93]
An artist I love and respect for her staunch attitude, skills, music taste and versatility. This track represents the unexpected nature of her DJ sets and I expect nothing less when she joins us on tour. This track really made the rounds when it came out as it has mega anthem potential, hands in a hands-in-the-air kind of vibe. If you go through her discography, you will find so many amazing productions from many different contexts, so if you’ve lived under a rock and haven’t checked her productions, go indulge, please.
Mac Declos - Voy Voy (Nature Boy Remix) [Amniote Editions]
French master of hits Mac Declos released this track with us on the big collaboration capsule we did with Berlin collective Mala Junta last year, and I loved hearing so many different people play it during festival season 2023. Now it has been reimagined as part of our anniversary remix compilation by Nature Boy (aka Snog (coluber)), a friend of mine from Copenhagen who is a producer with many talents. I love this hard electro remake of the original with the super heavy bass.
Cora - Mountain High [A7A]
The first track released by Berlin-based, Chinese artist Cora on Lawrence Lee’s label. It’s a really cool, proggy track and Cora is so good at using her beautiful voice in her productions which I’m excited to hear more of! She will join us in Amsterdam and I love her sets which are really sonically diverse and takes you on a journey every time.
Mehen, Hadone - Skin Confessions (Straight Binary Version) [Amniote Editions]
Our very first capsule release! The EP that launched the project in 2019 and became quite the hit back then. Hadone is a master of melodies and moods while still having some rowdy punchiness in his tracks. I still play this track, and it still goes off.
Tomás Urquieta, Lydo - Hand of God [X-TRA.SERVICES]
Some pure, groovy techno from NYC! I am really into this project and excited to hear more from them in the future. The title track from the EP is my favourite. Lydo is a resident of Basement and will join Jasss and I on the tour when we hit NYC.
DINA - Willow (Monophonik & Riva Remix) [Amniote Editions]
A meeting of legends for the remix extravaganza! This is the second time Monophonik and Riva have contributed to the label, and Riva will be on the lineup at FOLD in London — one of my favourite clubs where she is also a resident. Their productions are a fresh take on proggy Goa trance, and this remix is such a cool reinterpretation of the original.
BASHKKA - Act Bad (Roza Terenzi Remix) [UMAY]
UMAY — the sick label run by Nene H — has a really exciting output, so all the releases are on heavy rotation. This track is super sexy, and I love a good remix, as you might have noticed by now. Both BASHKKA and Roza Terenzi are amazing producers and DJs, so this is a match made in heaven — and they are both making special appearances on the tour. *chefs kisses*
Hyperaktivist - Mala Life [Amniote Editions]
What better to capture the vibe of infamous Berlin sweethearts of Mala Junta than a track dedicated to it? It was super special doing a big collaboration with the crew last year with a soundscape that fits both our vision and encapsulates the rowdy and diverse sound of the best party in Berlin. This track by founder and resident Hyperaktivist is a cheeky, butt-jiggling techno track that works every time.
