Playlist of the Week: AceMo

Ace Mo Playlist of the Week
AceMo
Sept 11, 2024
NYC's prolific underground electronic music visionary AceMo shares some of his most formidable dance floor weapons for Beatport's Playlist of the Week.

This playlist is meant to act as a guide into the vast and ever-growing scene of music producers that I’m connected to, either personally or musically, sonically interconnected by the mutual love of beats and sounds. Enjoy!

AceMo's latest album, Inter Transit, is out now via the artist's Sonic Messengers imprint. Buy it on Beatport.

AceMo - Echo Location [Sonic Messengers]
A fun one to play. I've tested this tune from Brazil to Berlin, classic techno sounds but from a futuristic person's perspective. You've gotta learn this one and blend it in proper.
MoMa Ready - AYO WTF! [HAUS of ALTR]
A smasher for sure. Be prepared for someone to yell in your face or some screams from the crowd with this one, let the track do its thing and pump up the crowd!
Kush Jones - WUB [Kush Jones]
This one is a chiller but a club killer, which is probably a proper description for most Kush Jones tracks. It's out of the ordinary but so in tune with what’s happening in the production. This one can be a good transition into other club sounds.
DJ Swisha - Larry OG (OLDHEAD REMIX) [DJ SWISHA]
Another banger, this one has disco vibes but with a club pump to get all types of crowds going. It's great to blend with house and other genres to create space and references. Breaks from the past and beats from the future.
1morning - Samba De Verão [Character]
So fun to play. These next two tracks are similar in that the artist takes a sample and beefs it up with some amazing drum programming on top.
R-010 - Pañuelo [Cabrera]
I played this one recently on our Lot Radio show, which went well! I love this artist. They have so many different takes on electronic music, and I love their drum and synth sounds.
WK7 - Do It Yourself [Power House]
I just love this track so much. It was one of the first tracks I came across on vinyl from my friend Eddy in college, so it’s a special one that I keep close to my heart.
2Lanes - Silk Over Rust (Texture Mix) [Psychic Relief]
Even off the dance floor, I love listening to this one. 2Lanes takes a lot of care into his productions. I'm proud to call him my friend. We have some awesome music in the works that I’m excited to put out.
Bok Bok - Raining Inside [Night Slugs]
Honestly, what the track says is what the track does to me; this one is so fun to play. You can really see it wash over the crowd, and people close their eyes and feel those waves. I remember playing this one at Elsewhere recently and during our Sonic Messengers expeditions at Public Records.
MJK, Skee Mask - Patchwork, Pt. 2 [Obligated Records]
These guys are taking the sound by storm. These are two artists whose work I’m always very excited to hear. MJK has some productions coming out soon that I know will really shake some things up. Skee Mask is another guy who always ups the ante and pushes the sound forward. I appreciate both of these souls! And shout out Oblig Records, too!!
Armand Van Helden - Witch Doktor [Strictly Rhythm]
Just a classic I've been throwing in the bag lately. Huge sound, still bangs!
Decoder, Barbosa - Sewer [Hayes]
Decoder is a force to be reckoned with! It's always a blast playing his percussion-heavy and polyrhythmic tracks, which really get the crowd in a trance.
Ali Berger - Tape Jam Pt. 2 [Scissor & Thread]
From the production powerhouse Ali Bergs! A jammer that gets better as time goes on! This is another track that reminds me of something we would play at Sonic Messengers' party. I can hear improvised horns and vocals all over this one.
Max Watts - Dusk [Faith Beat]
I just found this one really recently and am stoked to test it out in the club. Max has some awesome productions and is nasty on the decks. I'm excited to see what he does next.
D. Strange, Huey Mnemonic - Black Mantra Corps [Subsonic Ebonics]
Huey and D. Strange are both amazing producers in their own right, and this one gets a stank face from me. Electro that hits you right in the kisser. Great sounds and really cuts through the mix.
