Australian-born, LA-based melodic house prodigy Cassian digs into the best releases from his favourite producers for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.

A collection of my favourite recent releases from my favourite producers, some of whom I’m lucky to call friends. The common theme is producers who have an unmistakable unique style to their work. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Cassian – React [Rose Avenue]
I made this track in May of 2021 right before I was about to play my first shows in almost 18 months. For me, it encapsulates the energy I was feeling at that time. Excitement, frustration, even some aggression.
Luke Alessi – Everybody Dancing [Thick as Thieves]
Luke Alessi is probably my favourite up-and-coming Australian producer at the moment. Exceptional sound design, an infectious groove and a great low end. Familiar yet unique and an undeniable party starter.
Solomun, &ME, Rampa, Adam Port, Keinemusik – The Day I Met You [Keinemusik]
I’m a huge fan of all of these guys so this one is a dream collab for me. Really beautiful and unique chord progression over a familiar stab rhythm. The granular fx throughout the track are great too. A wonderful journey from start to finish.
Armin van Buuren, Be No Rain, AVIRA – Hollow (Colyn Remix) [Armind / Armada]
Another great record from Colyn. Executed effortlessly as per usual in his unique style. The sequence that comes in midway through is simple yet perfect.
Jos & Eli – SOS [Renaissance Records]
These guys have been on such a roll the last few years and have some amazing unreleased records I’ve been playing in my sets. SOS is tough yet beautiful. Masters of the saw wave.
RÜFÜS DU SOL – Next To Me (Vintage Culture Remix) [Rose Avenue / Reprise]
Maybe my favourite remix of last year. The original was ripe for a version like this and Vintage Culture nailed it. He’s also the hardest working producer I’ve met so far.
Paraleven, Bien et Toi – Tidal Wave (Stephan Jolk Remix) [Rose Avenue]
Beautiful modulated synths flutter over a massive drum break. I had the pleasure of doing the mix down for the original version of the song which for me makes it even more of a pleasure to hear Stephan’s version of the song.
Meduza, Hozier – Tell It To My Heart (Fideles Remix) [Universal-Island Records Ltd]
The drum/bass groove combined with the synth programming is amazing. It can be pretty tough to remix big songs like this but they make it sound and feel so effortless with this one.
Artbat – Horizon [UPPERGROUND]
It’s been said a million times before but these guys never miss. Especially love the subtle saturation between the kick and bass when it all kicks in. Beauty and power.
Yotto, Anden – Grouplove [Odd One Out]
When my favourite bro collabs with literal bros you know it’s going to be great. Classic Yotto synth and bass work combined with ethereal vocals from the brothers Anden.
