Koven .
English bass music duo Koven celebrates their new Monstercat single ‘Take It Away’ with some of their favorite cinematic D&B tunes for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.

In celebration of our new single ‘Take It Away’, which is an orchestral drum and bass track, we decided to create a playlist with some of the prettiest, string-infused D&B. Drum and Bass can be heavy, it can be gritty, and as much as we love that side of it as well, sometimes it’s lovely to get lost in the more beautiful side of things. We had a bucket list experience with our new single when we got to record a live orchestra with it and the outcome was stunning! So if you’re a fan of drum and bass with strings, you’ll love this playlist.

Koven’s new single “Take It Away” drops May 5th via Monstercat. Check it out on Beatport.

Koven – Take it Away [Monstercat]
This is our brand new single and the first time we got to record live strings with a track, and we hope you’ll agree the outcome is absolutely beautiful. It’s something we’d love to do more in the future and one day we’d love to perform with a live orchestra.
Brookes Brothers – Day Break (feat. Tasha Baxter) [Breakbeat Chaos]
Going back to 2011 with this one, a bit of a hidden gem as it sits at the end of the Brookes Brothers’ first album. I am totally hypnotized by the strings on this track, it grabs you within the first 3 seconds, then takes you on a journey. Then throw Tasha’s vocals into the mix and you have an emotional masterpiece.
Etherwood & Fred V – Nebula [Hospital Records]
With this track, you only have to look at who the 2 collaborators are and you instantly know it’s going to be something stunning. Etherwood’s entire album ‘Neon Dust’ is full of masterpieces you can listen to in order to fully escape.
Camo & Krooked – Other Side (feat. Rezar) [Hospital Records]
This track starts off like it’s a sad number but it quite quickly becomes an uplifting, motivational journey of empowerment. We love everything Camo & Krooked do, but this one just hits a little differently, right in the heart. The use of strings, courtesy of the Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra, is absolutely phenomenal.
Pola & Bryson – Keeping Pace [Shogun Audio]
These guys have a golden touch when it comes to creating complete euphoria. This track is quite subtle but so sublime.
Wilkinson – On Your Mind (feat. Amber Van Day) [Sleepless]
This is drum and bass with a HARP!!! I mean come on, a harp?! How absolutely incredible is that. One of the more chill tracks from his ‘Reason’ album, which does not have a single dud track on it. Album of the year we reckon!
Koven – Get This Right [Viper Records]
All the way back to 2015! We loved this track when we made it. It’s just so uplifting. Of course the strings, like in most electronic music, aren’t real recorded strings, as it wasn’t something we could afford to do then. Which makes us feel all the more fortunate we have been able to do it with our latest single.
Keeno – Communications [Hospital Records]
Keeno is another connoisseur when it comes to throwing some orchestral elements into a dnb track. This is such a mellow and vibey track, it goes perfect with sunshine and a beverage of your choosing.
Mollie Collins – Stay (feat. Katy Alex) [Right Good Records]
Mollie has been on a roll recently. She’s really found her sound and nailed it. If you follow her on social media you can see that she’s worked really hard to perfect her craft by learning to play new instruments. Maximum respect to her!
Netsky & Becky Hill – Hold On [Hospital Records]
Had to include this absolutely stunning collab. Netsky always gets it right when it comes to pulling on your heartstrings with his production, so to team up with one of the biggest voices of our time was always going to be a winner.
