Catz ‘n Dogz Reflect on their 20-Year-Career with 10 Iconic Tracks

Celebrating two decades of dance music majesty, Polish duo and Pets Recordings label heads Catz ‘n Dogz zero in on ten of their proudest studio creations.

When it comes to house music duos, few and far between are as iconic, prosperous, and can match the radiant dance floor energy of longtime friends Greg and Voitek — better known to the world as Catz ‘n Dogz.

Between chart-topping releases on labels like Diynamic, Watergate Records, Defected, Dirtybird, and their immensely successful Pets Recordings imprint — which boasts over 150 releases — you’d be hard-pressed to find a DJ or producer in the scene that doesn’t hold this pair in high regard. Leaving their paw prints all over clubs and festivals globally, Greg and Voitek’s creative bond has gone from strength to strength in the two decades they’ve been operating in the studio and running the dance floor.

Celebrating this milestone of 20 years, the pair has had an eye-catching release schedule planned. As their remix prowess has always been held in high esteem, they unleashed a wicked 20 Years of Catz ‘n Dogz compilation that features some top-notch remixes they’ve cooked up for artists like RÜFÜS DU SOL, Disclosure, Basement Jaxx, Claude VonStroke, LF SYSTEM, Bicep, Roisin Murphy, and more. In addition, they’ve handed off the stems of some of their most popular tracks to commission a series of remixes from some of the scene’s brightest talents, such as Maruwa, Matisa, Andres Campo, Krystal Klear, and more.

As this retrospective of the Polish duo’s iconic career continues throughout the year, we caught up with Greg and Voitek, who went down the rabbit hole of their immense discography to identify and discuss 10 of their most essential tracks.

Catz ‘n Dogz, Lolita Leopard – Diva [Glitterbox]

This is the newest single, we’ve been testing it for a few months. Amazing Lolita Leopard vocals, it’s a tribute to all the Divas around the world!! This is our anthem for Pride Month. We want it to be a source of motivation, and your secret weapon for those moments when you need a boost of positive energy.

Catz ‘n Dogz – Fixation [Dirtybird]

This one is our first single on Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird label, just when we changed our name from 3 Channels to Catz’ n Dogz. I think this is our classic sound and definitely our beginning. A real House banger.

Catz ‘n Dogz, Gerd Janson – Modern Romance

One of our favourite people in the world – Gerd Janson. I remember working on this one was a pure pleasure. This one came out right after the pandemic and was bringing us and our fans a lot of good and positive energy.

Catz ‘n Dogz – Now [Diynamic]

We are really happy with this one released on Solomun’s Diynamic label. I think this is the track which received the most feedback from other producers and is definitely one of our best productions ever. We spend a lot of time in the studio with this one, it was intense but also very rewarding, soundwise.

Catz ‘n Dogz – Rave History [Pets Recordings]

Still love this one. It has this magic element that was always inspiring us, this one is a tribute to all the ’90s producers and DJs. This one is dedicated to the rave scene that inspired us when we were growing up.

Catz ‘n Dogz – Wave [Pets Recordings]

Like our name, we like to make things funny and play with the music. This is a positive energy track, with amazing video that was shot by our friends around the world. Zensofly vocals are hypnotizing here. We just finished a new single with Zen for Crosstown Rebels.

Catz ‘n Dogz – Get It Right (feat. Tanika0 [Pets Recordings]

This one was so much fun to record this music video for. The shooting took seven days, and the results are amazing. We really love to work with the vocals, and Tanika did amazing work on lyrics and singing.

Catz’ n Dogz, Monty Luke – They Frontin’ [Defected]

We met Monty Luke in Detroit and we really loved his energy and voice. We had those beats ready for Get Physical label, and we thought to give it a try and add some vocals. This was definitely one of our biggest club hits. We released it remastered on our label Pets to mark our 20 years on the scene.

Catz ‘n Dogz, Megane Mercury – Kiki [Pets Recordings]

We don’t only work with English or Polish vocals. Voitek moved to Madrid a few years ago, and the Spanish language is definitely another inspiration for us. Megane Mercury is a queer Madrid-based artist with an amazing hypnotic, deep voice. We also love acid house, so the mixture of both was perfect for us.

Thomas Schumacher – Hush (Catz ‘n Dogz 2013 Remix) [Pets Recordings]

The last one is definitely our biggest club track. We met Thomas when we were DJing in Germany. We were drinking beer before the set and talking about music. Thomas said he still has the samples for the original one that we really liked. After few months, we came out with this version, which was a big one.
