Charles D: ‘5 Truesoul releases that changed the game’

This track was a staple in my sets coming out of COVID when I was opening for Eric Prydz. It fits perfectly into my sound without overwhelming the room. Instead, it set the tone. The hypnotic vocal sample pulls you in immediately, and the groove keeps you locked from start to finish. A masterclass in restraint and atmosphere.

A housey, rave-infused record that I absolutely hammered for months. Sometimes I’d even open my sets with it. It’s one of those tracks that immediately creates a connection with the crowd. Energetic without being overbearing, memorable without trying too hard. In my opinion, one of his finest productions.

When this record landed, it immediately felt like a future classic. Going straight to number one wasn’t a surprise. The groove is tight, the synths are bold and in-your-face, yet the track remains incredibly seductive thanks to the hypnotic vocal. It’s the perfect balance of energy and tension.

An absolute masterpiece. “Helix” effortlessly combines elements of progressive, trance, and techno into something uniquely its own. Beyond the production, it’s simply beautiful songwriting. Weska is a good friend, but even putting that aside, this is one of those records that makes you wish you’d written it yourself.

Kaufmann has been on an incredible run, and what I love most about her music is how recognizable her groove writing has become. You can hear a Kaufmann record and immediately know it’s her. “Weird Flex” is hypnotic, mind-bending, and endlessly engaging. Lately, the records that resonate with me most are the ones that create that feeling of vertical tension and keep your brain searching for what’s coming next. This track does exactly that.
