Playlist of the Week: Fiona Zanetti

Cameron Holbrook
Paris-based shapeshifter Fiona Zanetti moves through club music like it’s a living thing, blending trancey lift, rolling house, and late-night sensuality into something that hits both body and mind.
Ahead of her debut EP Red Light Therapy, she steps up for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week with a selection that maps her sound, from hypnotic peak-time drivers to ambient resets that steady the nervous system. The project itself taps into that same duality, exploring club culture as both release and repair.
Speaking about her playlist, Zanetti said:
I’ve put together a list that represents my sound across different layers, what inspired my productions, what I’m looking forward to playing this summer, tracks that haven't left my USB key, and everything in between. I hope this playlist will let you go a little deeper into my world and inspire you to dig in and discover more new and old music, and, most importantly, to enjoy it at its highest form (dancing).
It’s sweaty, introspective, and instinct-led. Tap in below as Zanetti opens the door to what’s shaping her sets, her productions, and her headspace right now.
I have to start with my newest track out which is also my EP namesake, Red Light Therapy, this is the fastest track on the EP at 140 bpm, it also is the most hypnotic one in my opinion that oscillate towards techno, I also start writing music with the vision of a scene in mind, one of my favorite thing in my job is observing people react to music in a club, let go and let the sound consume them, that was the inspiration behind this track, late night nightclubbing hedonism.
A track I’ve been playing lots lately, I’m quite addicted to the bounce of it and the liquid elements in the production, this is typically the type of music I’d play in a three-hour club set.
A reference that has been constant in producing my music, specifically in inspiring me to use my voice as an instrument in the project, such an iconic track that is also super fashion somehow, and this is where I come from so I love it when it has this sexy sassy vibe about it.
A club-driven affirmation practice with a haunted and sultry baseline, that I think is transversal in unifying inner thoughts and physical response which is something I tried to explore in different forms in the EP.
A track that has been super defining for me when I started DJing, this was after I saw Roza play at Dekmantel Selectors many years ago and was completely mesmerized by her sound. It felt like nothing I heard before at the time, and opened a new world of digging and range of artists to listen to and play.
Big fan of Upsammy and her sound as well which is so textured and organic yet very contemporary and sharp, it somehow scratches my brain the right way. I love playing this typology of sound in my ambient sets, but most importantly, I love listening to it at home or in super hectic environment to calm my brain and nervous system. Music is not only pleasure and passion for me but really a tool to help me regulate myself, that’s why ambient has such an important part in it.
Incredible producer and musician, I’m a big fan of this whole ambient album he put out and also more recently his work with his girlfriend, Kiss Facility. There’s a true sensitivity that I can feel through the music, I can almost feel the tear dripping down the face when I listen closely. Music can be so intimate and a true window to the soul and I think he’s a good representation of this.
A super playful and sexy track. I have been playing a lot of the Regularfantasy music, but this remix by Priori has been a favorite of the moment. It feels like a short story within a track, which is so cinematic and interesting to me.
I love to open or close a set with this track to re-center the energy a little bit, with a slower BPM and yet super interesting trippy modern take on progressive house, a favorite of mine lately.
Such an insane producer; this track is everything. It's rolly, emotional, and I can already project the 7 AM dusky skies of summer festivals when I listen to it. Really a masterclass in minimalism as well, a couple great elements, all executed super well.
I cannot forget to have my dear friend and collaborator Pancratio on this list. An artist who has been fundamental in helping me find my sound, and he’s one of the most talented producers of our generation. You just have to listen to his whole album on Ryan Elliot's Faith Beat to realize – best album of last year for me and represents everything I love about house music. The sound is so fresh, sharp and quintessential while also remaining comforting and familiar. He’s just the best!
A beautiful house track remastered on Happiness Therapy, such a banger. I have been playing this one a lot, I love the build up and structure of this track as well.
I've been loving this Amsterdam-based producer. The productions are very catchy, sexy and cheeky. Sounds amazing in a club and really tooly!
Typically, the fun tech house track that you might find in one of my sets with the hip hop vocal/twist. Such a banger! I think it’s the perfect summer track for the festivals this year.
The Trip has been a constant add to cart in recent years, with such well-produced music, it always does the trick, very fun. I have been playing House Nation, which sounds amazing in a club, definitely a keeper on my USB.
Such an iconic track! The type of old-school tech house I love: super rolly. I forgot this one existed until a couple of months ago, when my talented friend Gabrielle Kwarteng came to my house to record a mix while she was in Paris, and she played it. I think I was cooking in the kitchen… instant memories, and add back to the playlist.
Ohh, I love this OCB remix of “Coolin,” it has been one of my best closing tracks and will still be for a while. It has the emotion, the piano, and is a bit cheeky (almost trolly?). I love it! I remember listening to it all the time during my time in Mexico City last month.
