Playlist of the Week: Luch (Day Zero Festival)

Luch Beatport Playlist of the Week

Ahead of his performance at Day Zero Festival, Luch curates a patient, immersive selection built for long journeys, open spaces, and homecoming moments.

This playlist represents where I’m at musically ahead of performing at Day Zero, a festival that has always held special meaning for me. Growing up in Mexico, Day Zero was one of those events that felt almost mythical; something you gravitated toward and aspired to be part of, not just attend. To be playing the festival now in my home country is something I don’t take lightly, and this selection reflects the mindset I’m bringing into that moment.

I’m drawn to music that unfolds over time, records that don’t rush their impact, but gradually pull you deeper into the experience. The tracks I’ve listed here seem to live in that space between groove, emotion, and patience. Some are driving and percussive, others more melodic and introspective, but all of them share a sense of restraint and intention that I value deeply as a DJ.

This is the kind of music I’ve been playing and living with as I shape my sets for Day Zero. I tend to reach for tracks that create contrast while maintaining cohesion and flow, somewhere between darkness and light. They thrive in wide-open spaces, breathe with the crowd, and allow for long, evolving journeys on the dance floor. There’s a strong connection not just to rhythm and movement, but also to storytelling. That personal aspect feels especially important when playing at home.

Being able to share this music at Day Zero, in Mexico, is an honor. I’m excited to bring this to my country.

Following its first ever edition in Brazil this past weekend, Day Zero returns to its ancestral home in Tulum, Mexico on Saturday, January 10, where Luch will perform alongside the likes of Vintage Culture, Cinthie, Nicola Cruz, Mau P, Perel, Damian Lazarus and more. Secure tickets here.

Benja (NL), Franc Fala – Phunk

Groovy, raw, and full of personality. This is the kind of track that instantly changes the energy in a room.

Manu Chao – La vie à 2 (Demayä Remix)

A remix that honors the soul of the original while giving it new depth in a club setting. Warm, rhythmic, and timeless.

Franky Rizardo – Baile De Fantome

Subtle but powerful. This track is all about momentum and works perfectly when you want to lock people into a groove.

Ankhoï, Luch – THE FUTURE

My most recent record, and one which holds a special place in my heart, made with my brother Ankhoi. It is a song that reflects the direction I’m moving toward, minimal, forward-thinking, and focused on tension rather than excess.

Notre Dame – Lost Echoes

Deep and emotive, with melodies that slowly reveal themselves. A track that really rewards patience in the mix.

Bedouin – Make Me Feel (Notre Dame Remix)

Darker and more hypnotic than the original, with a subtle emotional pull that works beautifully late in a set.

Fiona Kraft – Deeper Feelings (Maga Remix)

A perfect balance of atmosphere and groove. It creates space while still keeping the dance floor engaged.

Mendo – Inocencia

Stripped-back and groove-driven. One of those records that quietly takes control of the room.

Victor Flash – Let You Down

Clean, focused, and effective. A great tool for maintaining flow without overpowering the journey.

Brunello, Connan – The Clown’s Corridor

I chose this track for its ability to create tension without overpowering the room. It sits on the darker end of the spectrum, making it a perfect counterweight to lighter moments while keeping the journey cohesive and hypnotic.
