A Journey Through Sound with Danny Tenaglia

Danny T Playlist 1
A curated snapshot of the groove, stories and friendships currently shaping the sound of the legendary Danny Tenaglia.

From his formative years behind the decks in Brooklyn and Miami to becoming a central figure in the global house and techno movement, Danny Tenaglia has spent decades shaping what underground dance music looks and feels like.

His marathon sets, uncompromising sound and deep respect for the culture have made him not just a DJ, but a true custodian of the scene. Every era, disco, house, tribal, progressive, tech, has passed through his hands and he has helped guide each one forward while staying rooted in the foundations laid by legends like Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles.

This playlist is an extension of that journey. It isn’t just a collection of tracks,  it’s a continuation of Danny’s story, told through friendships, rediscoveries and modern inspirations.

From the emotional revival of Fever Rising (a project he was first part of nearly 25 years ago) to cutting-edge selections from trusted peers like John Digweed, Radio Slave, Harry Romero and rising talents like Baunder, every track represents a moment in time, a memory, or a fresh spark of excitement on today’s dance floors.

Cass & Slide, Danny Tenaglia – Fever Rising (The Baunder Remix)

Talk about a revival. I was first part of this project nearly 25 years ago. It was released in 2001 and also appeared on my Back to Basics compilation. This year, an unsolicited remix landed on my desk, and it completely floored me. The remixer, Baunder from Argentina, wasn’t someone I knew, so I reached out to my friend Hernan Cattaneo, who connected us. Soon we had a group chat with Cass as well, and we all immediately agreed that this needed to be released. Naturally, Hernan’s label Sudbeat was the perfect home. It’s been an instant classic for me all year, lifting every dance floor since early 2025. Now it’s yours too. :)

Paul Roux – Hold On

Yet another friend and major force in dance music, John Digweed sent this to me after he signed it to his amazing Bedrock label. This also gave me the sense of an instant classic. My only wish is that it had more lyrics to it, but I still give it a 10 out of 10.

Radio Slave, Kameelah Waheed – All Rize

Both Harry Romero's Dub and Radio Slave's mixes are bangers. Both of these guys cannot do any wrong, and for many years now. The consistency is undeniable. Pure Fire!

Antonio Farhy, Sam Sick – Confusion

In my humble opinion, this is a perfect example of modern progressive music loaded with energy!

Tiger Stripes – Wake Up

A super jackin' track. Swing house has flooded the scene for some time now, but when one like this comes along, I get all psyched because it sticks out amongst the many others. Well done!

X-Club. – Frankie Knuckles

The title immediately got my attention, naturally, but then I got confused as it sounded nothing like FK's style? However, as I do love 'proper' tech house and techno, this is simply slamming.

Frankie is worthy of the honour, and I'm sure is dancing to this from above!

Kristian Heikkila – Shake It

If I had to describe what proper tech house means to me, this is a perfect example. It's uptempo and super energetic, yet, it's not what I consider techno, even though the original tempo is 143 Bpms, which is above my taste, but this sits 'perfectly' at 133 Bpms with me.

Harry Romero – Danny’s Groove

Harry is a dear friend of mine, and when he sent this to me, I thought it was a joke because although we definitely have great admiration, for one another, I simply thought he didn't have a title for it yet. I was so honoured as well as knowing it was released on Radio Slaves label Rekkids! I personally call it Harry's Groove, hehe But I get it and I thank him. A true maestro indeed.

Leigh Macneil – Step Off

I didn't love it at first as the recording seemed very low, but once I loaded it into Traktor, I had so much fun boosting it and adding my own kick drums and elements on top, which is such a major part of my joy today as a DJ/Producer utilizing such incredible modern technology.

George Vidal – Out From Obscurity (Danny Tenaglia Remix)

I had to hype this one as it is very special to me. George has been a dear friend to me since I was a DJ back in Miami between 1985-1990. He was such a big fan of mine and the music and we eventually became friends. He even named his first-born son after me! So, I was so proud when he sent me the original, which I even used on my GU-45 Compilation. Mike Weiss at Nervous signed it and asked me to be a part of it, and I was very grateful. George is still active as a DJ in Miami and we can expect more music from him soon.
