Playlist of the Week: SPFDJ

SPFDJ Beatport POTW

Fresh off the arrival of her debut EP 'Heel Thyself,' SPFDJ takes the helm for our Beatport Playlist of the Week – channeling the "hot, dramatic, and slightly psychotic” soundworld that has defined her rise from underground force to global techno powerhouse.

Swedish DJ/producer SPFDJ is a straight-up powerhouse whose wild energy, sharp instincts, and tender-core edge have helped flip the queer techno landscape on its head from London to Berlin and everywhere in between. With her debut EP Heel Thyself finally landing on her Intrepid Skin imprint, she’s stepping into a whole new era – one built on self-healing, creative chaos, and zero fear in the studio. To celebrate, she’s taking the reins on our Beatport Playlist of the Week.

"This playlist is for the girls, gays, and ravers who like their tracks hot, dramatic, and slightly psychotic. You’ll hear my love for old-school rave, driving drums, bouncy beats, cheeky vocals, and colourful synths that flirt with trance, techno, latincore and everything in between. Basically: no filler, just bangers." – SPFDJ

Bae Blade - Make Me [Hot Haus Recs]

This is exactly the kind of techno I’ve been looking for. Classic, old-school, driving drums, but with a fun, full, trancey sound design and sassy vocals. Bae Blade hits the nail on the head with this one and it’s an absolute club weapon. Trust me when I say this gets everyone moving, old generation as well as new.

Brutalismus 3000 - Baby G (Victoria Remix) [Columbia Local]

Victoria has quickly become one of my favourite artists, and this combo with the iconic Brutalismus 3000 vocals is a winner. Hits really hard and has lots of personality, I love the slight industrial touch to this cool swung groove.

BEC - Dawn Of A New Dimension [Intrepid Skin]

With sound design that’s becoming a bit of a BEC signature, this track has gorgeous laser sounds bouncing around, constantly evolving, and a unique breakdown and drop that really catches the dance floor’s attention. It’s a fun but also very cool anthem that I was super happy to release on my label.

SPFDJ - The Hot in Psychotic [Intrepid Skin]

Shameless self promo! I love the staccato percussion and the mischievous vibe, like something scandalous is happening but everyone’s secretly enjoying it and I love that.

SPFDJ - Cluster B Intro [Intrepid Skin]

This track of my own might be overshadowed by its 4x4 siblings on my new EP, but it’s my personal favourite, with its tension-filled pads and my eerie vocal, escalating into a frenzy of triplet kicks that give almost a gabber vibe. Perfect for resetting the vibe of whoever played before me.

KTK - Moonryse [BCCO]

Criminally underrated Greek goddess KTK makes music that is both powerful and hypnotic. With signature modern, trancey, swirling sound design, this track adds sophistication to any set, and the fun groove is extremely danceable.

Slim Soledad - Vai Toma Na Rave [ONES AND ZEROS]

Slim is one of those producers who can fully translate their world into music. It’s a pleasure hearing her music because she manages to infuse so much of herself into her work, and that’s exactly what I’m looking for. This track is so cool, with continuously evolving sounds that make it feel like no two bars are ever the same. Ear candy galore!

Lisa Lashes - What Can You Do 4 Me? [Tidy Trax]

What would an SPFDJ playlist be these days without some proper old-school UK Hard House? Lisa Lashes is an icon and this track keeps on giving, getting progressively ravier as the track goes on. That hoover synth in the last drop is major.

Tommy Holohan - Need To Know [Steel City Dance Discs]

Tommy is such a skilled producer, and this vocal is everything you didn’t know you needed, but you need to know. Such an epic one! Hits you in the feels.
