Ahead of her release 'Game On', releasing on Gorgon City's imprint REALM Records on 10th October, Philou drops her dancefloor essentials.

Crimewave

One of my first concerts ever, and this track particularly was a slap to the face! This track represents the raw, anarchic side of electronic music, punk-inspired, and texturally intense. Gravitates toward high-energy moments or chaotic breakdowns.

Human After All

Since "Game On" relates to my childhood, this list wouldn't be complete without the Daft Punk, leaders of the French touch, which OF COURSE influenced me so much. This is about discipline and groove: proof that you don’t need 100 layers to make a track work.

Discopolis

That sample of Rickie Lee Jones recalling some images of her childhood, is so dreamy and pure. That one inspired me also for 'Game On', the vocals and the retro texture of voices I wanted. In general it took me towards more cinematic intros, transitions, or storytelling moments in sets.

My Feels

When I first discovered DJ Holographic, there was no turning back. This track embodies soulful house! It shaped how I think about balancing groove with emotion and taught me how subtle variations in rhythm can change the energy without needing big drops.

You Gonna Want Me

This summer, I think I closed my set with this track almost every time I played. When I listen to it I feel nostalgia from my teenage years, yet happy to feel a glimpse of it in my heart. Some sounds really have the power to take you back somewhere. This track also showed me how vocals can become part of the groove instead of just sitting on top of it.

Envelopes

Also a track I played LOADS and probably fed into my appreciation for depth and dimensionality. How texture, space, and reverb can transform a simple groove into a hypnotic, immersive world. And what really elevates 'Envelopes', though, is the touch of acid that creeps in, of course.

Tangler Twisted Twirler

I was obsessed with this track for a while. It inspired me because it shows how minimalism can still feel rich and intense. It’s not ONLY about big moments, but about control, patience, and depth, the kind of subtle storytelling that keeps a dancefloor locked in for hours.
