Ape Drums (Major Lazer) Selects 10 Essential Latin Dance Floor Burners

Ape Drums
I go by Ape Drums, I've been DJing and producing music for about 20 years.
This playlist is just a select few of songs made/performed by latinos of different cultures/heritage that I grew up to or just enjoyed. After years of making different types of dance music, this year I decided that I want to make and play music that would age well, and that I would enjoy playing for the next decade. I'm super excited for some amazing releases and collaborations this coming year, and I can't wait for the world to hear them.
This song is timeless and still works to this day. Any latinos born or raised in the '90 definitely know this one!
Although everyone knows this record, I'm sure a lot of people don't know that Erick Morillo was half of Reel 2 Real! One of my all time fav DJ’s, I learned a lot from his style of mixing and song selection.
I remember hearing this when it came out, and it was a progression from latin/tribal to a more progressive house. It has the feel good element with positive vocals, and the dark club energy all in one.
Amazing samples and latin flavor on this one. Another '90s gem with more latin flavor than usual, but works well in a latin house set. NO PARE, SIGUE SIGUE!
One of our latest hits, with the amazing J Balvin and El Alfa. Classic Colombian sample with some dembow grooves, always works in the sets.
This man is another OG in this house game, and still putting out bangers. This is just one of his recent releases that i love and works well in the dark rooms!
Louie Vega and Kenny Dope are pioneers, this is just one of many of their contributions to dance music. This song actually is where the Ballroom genre stems from, they sample & use the drum/snare/sound even still to this day!
Who would've thought we would have made a dance record with Fuerza Regida? Not me, but we did and it came out amazing. Still an underrated one in my opinion.
This is one of many records showcasing my journey to progressing a sound, my own style of Afro Tech. I wanna contribute and help grow this amazing genre, and I want to represent latinos while doing so. Both cultures have history in drums, chants and instruments, I feel proud of how much success this one has had in that world.
This was the first record I released after trying out a new sound and style from Ape Drums. The feedback I've received from the Afro Tech community & the world has been nothing short of amazing, and I'm super grateful a lot of people have been able to resonate with it. This one has given so many DJ’s big ‘moments’ in their sets and I'm glad that I was able to bring that to them with this remix.
