Sacred Grooves: Jitwam’s 10 Tracks for Sonic Healing and Spiritual Lift-Off

Cameron Holbrook
Jitwam is a widely respected a producer, DJ, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist whose sound bridges house, soul, jazz, psychedelia, and the deepest corners of club culture. Born in India, raised in Sydney, and now based in Lisbon, he’s spent the past decade crafting a genre-resistant catalog that moves effortlessly between the dance floor and the heart.
Following the release of his ALL IN EP – the first release in a new trilogy of music from the artist – Jitwam has put together a special collection of tracks for Beatport that captures those moments on the dance floor when time dissolves and the music takes you inward.
"This playlist really reflects the moments on the dance floor where it’s time to look within oneself and get lost in the music. These moments are so magical to me, where time and space seem to disintegrate and the music is the guiding light." – Jitwam
This track is so deep, so special, and full of so many surprises. The tension the track builds from it’s minimalist percussion and amazing r&b vocal hypnotizes the dance floor every time. It lulls you into a false sense of security until all is released with the ecstatic broken beat euphoria in the latter half of the traxx. It’s a great reminder that the best moments in life is not the destination, but the journey you take to get there.
Larry Heard is a a genius of the modern day dance floor. And whilst his earlier traxx were filled with sleaze and rage, his latter productions speak to a more meditative mood and finding peace on the dance floor.
I love opening my sets with traxx that reset the dance floor and allow space for me to take us wherever feels right. This traxx is absolutely that. A deep meditation with piano and percussion, which really allows me to get a sense of where to take the music to next.
This one is DEEP! Not for the faint-hearted, i often play this in my longer sets when the dance floor is ready to get locked in a trance. One for the headz!
I met Laurence for the first time not too long ago in london. Great guy and great producer. Featuring one of my all time favs, Steve Spacek, on vocals, this one is full of melancholy and yearning.
HEAVY!!! Karizma always comes correct, but "Spirit" is so heavy and so deep. It just keeps rolling and rolling and rolling.
This traxx with Deetron is one of the more electronic cuts in Peven’s repertoire. Peven soars on this beat. While the synths swirl and ping pong in every which direction, Peven brings you back to center with his classic and forever soulful vocal.
Osunlade is a hero. His prolificness and range are something all producers aspire to. "MOSS Pt. 3 (My Luva)" is one of his more meditative traxx, which really allows you to get lost in the music and let everything melt away.
I don’t know too much about Denis, but this traxx reminds me of early Detroit. Super simple, super catchy, the tune is so evocative in the emotion that it paints. Truly a masterclass in restraint and emotion.
Sun after rain with Folamour and Kaidi Tatham is a special moment for me. Such an honour to have one of my heroes, Kaidi, on the remix, and Folamour, my good friend and one of my earliest supporters. Reminds me of pink sunsets and magical after the after-hours.
