Playlist of the Week: Neil Frances

Neil Frances
Hello. We’re Neil Frances. Yes, we are a band, but also, we are producers and DJs. We adore club music. We live for the dance floor. We have spent our whole summer DJing [and playing a #dawless live electronic set] around Europe. This playlist contains all the tracks that have really been resonating. You will definitely hear a few of these if you come see us at our upcoming set in Palm Springs at Splash House.
Splash House returns to Palm Springs this August 8–10 and 15–17, bringing its signature blend of poolside sets, hotel takeovers, and after-hours vibes to the desert for two weekends of expertly curated, sun-soaked revelry. Tickets can be found here.
There’s something about a Roland 303 that sends us to outer space. Simply can’t get enough of it. It’s a fun record to DJ, and even more fun to play live.
The brothers are sooo back! We can’t wait for the rest of the album if this single is anything to go by.
You’ve got to read the room, and sometimes the room wants a sexy 808. Revisiting this Dirtybird catalogue from a decade ago is so fun. Kill Frenzy is officially back on my stick (actually, he never left.. and now I’m kind of curious what he’s up to these days).
One of our favorite producers. He has such an immediate sound signature, and he never misses. This one is no exception!
A dusty sample and hard drums, what an absolute banger by Superfunk!
Caribou’s side project comes in HEAVY with an extremely efficient club weapon, really love the mix on this tune; it feels very live… when all else fails, CLAP YOUR HANDS!
A giant hunk of cheese and who doesn’t love cheese? The vocals are simply too good. 100% of the time this one will work 100% of the time.
Love how this takes a while to open up fully, have patience, it’s worth the wait with its familiar sample and hooky vocal snippets building to a mad crescendo.
This has not left our DJ sets for the last six months, a true dance floor destroyer. So simple yet so efficient and so good!
Samples the famous Teddy Pendergrass track “You Can’t Hide From Yourself,” as many legends have before (i.e. Moodymann, DJ Sneak). There’s something about those horns. Beyond the sample, this track has all the right ingredients to get the dance floor moving.
