It’s always a special moment when I play this song, but the crowd at Beats For Love Festival were seriously hyped for it on this day. The relentless drum kick, Alina Pozi’s sultry vocal delivery, Papi is the definition of Hōt Tëknō!
Straight up, this is a peak-time techno banger. The dark low-end gives it an industrial rawness, but the percussion is slick and piercing. I’ve been dropping in almost all of my sets lately. However, it hits on a whole new level of force when blasting out of a monster-scale festival sound system with thousands of ravers in front of you.
I love to play this one quite early on in my sets to get the people started as it’s a super fun, high-energy record. You can’t help but move your body when it drops, and of course, everyone knows the lyrics. I’d say it’s a strong blend between mainstream and my Hōt Tëknō sound, and from the boot,h I could tell this one landed well with the crowd.
