Playlist of the Week: Joeski

NYC’s house music linchpin Joeski tees up some of his best Afro-Latin rhythms of the Summer for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a fantastic summer! Mine was filled with happy dancing and smiling faces. This playlist is some of the tracks that did it for me this summer. I have been going back to my roots — the more percussive side of electronic music — which has always had a serious impact on both me and dance floors around the globe.

Joeski – Tapao E Mar (feat. Xiomara Torres, Adrian Viafara) [Maya Records]

Every chance I get to go back to Colombia, I do my best to work with local musicians. This is my second track in this series, and it includes an amazing vocalist, Xiomara Torres, and the amazingly talented Adrian Viafara on the Marimba.

Zeca Veloso – Todo Homem (Antdot & Maz BR Rmx) [Brasslive Records]

A good Brazilian friend introduced me to this track, found it to be beautiful, and it’s gotten a great dance floor response, so I’ve been playing it in all of my sets!

Harry Romero – Aye Papi [Bambossa Records]

Been a big fan of Harry since his Subliminal days. A true house music originator, still going strong and better than ever. He goes back to our Colombian roots with “Aye Papi” — straight-up Latin house party music!

Ban&dos – El Llano [Switchlab]

These young producers hailing from Venezuela have been killing it lately on the deep afro vibe. This one I have been playing out and always gets a great response. Look out for a new collaboration in the works.

Alain Diamond – Paulette [Enharmonic Digital]

Raw Latin funky vibe hitting the dance floor just right. Been feeling this one a lot. Definitely in my sets, and I love the vocal breakdown. It does some damage on the dance floor!

Junglewood – Sunshine In Africa [Black Savana]

I’ve been loving this Afro spiritual sunshine vibe. “Sunshine In Africa” is another one that has been in my sets recently — just good quality afro tech music.

Joeski, Doc Martin – Clouds [Sublevel Music]

My friendship with Doc spans decades. I’ve always been a fan of Doc’s DJ sets, so it made sense for us to get in the studio and collaborate. We went deep into our roots with a deep psychedelic track that is reminiscent of the early days of rave.

Shay DT – Bomu [House Tribe Records]

Drums, drums, and more drums! Just the way I like it! I love the funkiness of this one as well, and with its great vocal breakdown, “Bomu” certainly gets the job done on the dance floor.

Atmos Blaq – Te Amo [Bridge & Tunnel Beat Co]

Been really into the stuff Atmos Blaq has been doing lately. Super deep emotional afro house music, and I love it! This one, “Te Amo,” stood out for me — just all-around production with my full support.

Pablo Fierro – On My Bpm [We’re Here]

Been vibing with Pablo’s music with its perfect blend of Latin and African roots. This track is a perfect example of that. We got a chance to play together at his Ibiza residency this summer, creating a magical evening of drums and plenty of Afro-Latin rhythms.
