Playlist of the Week: Black Girl / White Girl

Rising Amsterdam duo Black Girl / White Girl celebrate Pride 2021 and their forthcoming HALLUCIN8 EP by heading up Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.

Digging for new music has always been our passion, and with all of the madness that has surrounded us this past year, discovering musical gems to share with the world has been the biggest joy. This playlist is a collection of unbelievably great tracks that we’ve discovered, with the majority of them coming from emerging producers and new, or smaller labels. Many of these have been featured in OPERATOR; our monthly mix series where we let you hear the music we’ll be playing as soon as the clubs reopen.

In addition to the tracks from our latest HALLUCIN8 EP, you can expect to hear a lot of techno, house, acid, electro, and breaks in this collection. We love switching things up and creating unexpected twists and turns in our sets, and we wanted our playlist to reflect this. We always make an effort to feature artists who aren’t usually given a platform, so they may gain more visibility and ideally, be acknowledged for their skills. There is still a lot more work to be done to level the playing field, especially for the representation of communities of color and the LGBTQ+ community. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

Black Girl / White Girl’s ‘HALLUCIN8′ EP drops June 25th via EI8HT. Pre-order and purchase here.

Black Girl / White Girl – Bad Moon Rising [EI8HT]

One of the last tracks we made before taking a much-needed studio break a few months ago, and you can definitely tell that it deserves a proper rave. While this tune is a celebration of what’s to come, it’s also tinged with a bit of anxiousness and a sense of uncertainty. Ultimately, we do see the light at the end of the tunnel. Can’t wait to blast this on a big system.

Beyun – Triple Point Pressure [OBSKUR MUSIC]

We recently came across this one by Beyun, who is killing it right now with the incredible Vault Wax label. Completely obsessed with this one. It has everything we want from a track: a meaty groove, throbbing lows, and a big ol’ nasty squelch. Slamming acid banger.

Quanah Style, Diana Boss – Give Me Life (dj genderfluid Remix) [Wet Trax]

Not gonna lie, we’re big fans of dj genderfluid in general, but this remix is from another planet. It makes you want to crowd surf the galaxy and shit. Seriously though, we’ve been discovering Wet Trax, and each and every track and artist on there is phenomenal. They are deserving of ALL of our love and attention.

India Jordan – Only Said Enough [Ninja Tune]

This is an actual belter. The vox is insane, and you can totally envision this one going off hard at a massive rave. And the percussion is out of this realm as well, breaks for days.

False Witness – Onlyfans (Original Mix) [Lobster Theremin]

This is such a stunning, pounding bomb we’re going to drop the first chance we get to play in front of a crowd. It just knocks you upside the head, love it.

Bored Lord – Crush on U (Ariel Zetina Remix) [Knightwerk]

Are you ready for a peak time record? When Ariel Zetina works her magic on something, you know it’s going to be a masterpiece. “Crush on U” is a fast, clean, and bright remix; the vocal is ridiculously hawt, and when that 303 kicks in, you can’t help but dance until the very last beat.

Noncompliant – Women’s Work (Original Mix) [Fiedeltwo]

Noncompliant doing what she does best: delivering another raw, dark, and mysterious techno masterpiece. This one is for late-night hours and any techno festival stage. Pure heat.

Tygapaw – Run 2 U (Original Mix) [NAFFI]

Tygapaw unleashes another banger with no holds barred; their stunning vocals evoke an incredible vibe, and when the stabs kick in, you’re transported to a whole new level of bliss.

FJAAK – Pull is Up (Steffi Remix) [SPANDAU20]

This is one for the ravers. Steffi unleashes fierce rave energy with sparkling electro twists. This is a massive secret weapon that you can use at any point during your set to ramp up the energy.

Black Girl / White Girl – Range Of Vision [EI8HT]

“Range Of Vision” is about pushing beyond your limits. For us, it’s very important that with any new project we’re working on, we explore new sounds and have fun while doing so. This is a fast, frantic techno track with just enough acid to send you flying to infinity and back.
