Greenpeace and DJs For Climate Action Unveil new Charity Compilation,
‘The Climate Soundtrack’

Curated by Nicola Cruz, BLOND:ISH, Cosmo Baker and Matt Black of Coldcut, the 37-track compilation explores music and culture’s vital role in the climate movement.

Arriving just in time for the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow, DJs For Climate Action and Greenpeace have dropped part one of their forthcoming charity compilation, The Climate Soundtrack.

Created in 2011, DJs For Climate Action is a group of DJs who’ve come together to harness the influence of dance music and DJ culture to help power climate solutions, generate action, raise awareness and raise funds for climate crisis projects and communities.

In late 2020, the group put out an open call to producers worldwide with the Climate Sample Pack — a sonic toolkit crafted from field recordings gathered during years of Greenpeace expeditions and activism across the globe. Featuring a wild array of unique sounds, with everything from arctic ice claps to monsoons, whales singing, birds of paradise, and other incredible sonics from nature, producers were tasked with using this sample pack to create wholly original pieces of music.

After receiving over 350 submissions, Nicola Cruz and Matt Black of Coldcut — the project’s lead curators — enlisted the help of BLOND:ISH and Cosmo Baker to help in selecting the best of the bunch, culminating in a stunning 37-track release with proceeds going to local, frontline organizations in some of the locations the samples were recorded.

Featuring tracks from established acts like Acid Pauli and Mark Farina, along with exciting up-and-comers like Belaria, Fakear, Eat My Butterfly and more, the sample pack has inspired house bangers, textured techno, alleviating electro, jazz, beats, and more. Check out part one of The Climate Soundtrack below.

And don’t miss volumes two, three and four from Earth Night Records.
