But if you’re looking for help getting started with Beartport’s new DJ web app, we’ve got you covered.

Watch the video below, or follow along with this step-by-step guide.

THE SETUP – HOW TO USE DJ APP?

To get started, you’ll first need to sign in using your existing Beatport username and password. From there, you’ll be prompted to take a short tour of the web app, which shows you how to load the left deck, the right deck, where the crossfader is, and lets you know how to add a playlist. You can even migrate playlists from Spotify, iTunes, or Apple Music, but we’ll get to that later. It is also possible to connect your DJ controller to the DJ web app.

First, here’s a quick rundown of what’s included in the virtual DJ setup.

Fader — fades the volume output between the left and right deck
Cue — clicking this while your track is playing will bring it back to the beginning
FX — click this to unlock 10 different FX, like reverb, flanger and echo
Pitch Control — hear what your tracks will sound like at slower or faster speeds
Automix — the Beatport DJ app mixes your playlists automatically
Gain — controls the volume for each of the two decks
High/Mid/Low Filters — controls the high, mid and low frequencies
High Pass/Low Pass Filter — use these to fully kill the low or high frequencies

+ more!

Once you have two tracks ready to go, click play, and you’re off. From there, you can either click Automix to let the app mix for you (more on that below), or use the Sync button to keep your tracks in phase. Use the EQs, fader and gains to blend the track, and click the Cue button to bring the track back to its original cue point, which is usually the beginning of the track.

If you’d like to find more music by the artist currently playing, you can click the track name, the artist name, the genre, or the record label, and you’ll be taken to their respective pages without leaving the DJ app!

Even while the Automix is on, you can drag and drop tracks in the playlist to rearrange the song order. Even better, your Beatport playlists will automatically sync, so any changes made in the app will show up next time you play using LINK in your DJ gear, or when browsing music in Beatport Mobile.

ADDING EXTERNAL PLAYLISTS

Beatport DJ is only available to Beatport subscribers, but that doesn’t mean you can’t DJ in the Beatport DJ web app with playlists you’ve built on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and elsewhere. And with TuneMyMusic, it’s as easy as a few clicks. Just link your account, select the source, and link your playlist.

DJ App Transfer Playlists

Once that’s done, you’ll be asked to select your destination. In this case, click Beatport. You’ll be asked to sign in, then TuneMyMusic will automatically begin transferring your music.

Transfer your music

Once the transfer is complete, you’ll be asked whether or not you want to sync your playlists. Syncing will keep your playlist updated all the time by performing changes in your playlist according to changes made in the source playlist.

Synch your playlists from Spotify

Once that’s done, click Open (look for the Beatport headphone icon), and you’ll be taken to your newly minted playlist in your Beatport library.

Listen

To access that playlist in Beatport DJ, click the refresh icon in the Playlist panel, and presto! Your playlist will automatically appear.
