Our expert curation team brings you the best tracks on Beatport you may have missed. This time featuring RITN, Header, Low Blow, Lil Texas, and more.
RITN — Truth [Snippet Recordings]
I’m completely obsessed with RITN. He’s an up-and-coming producer from Russia with a palpable signature style, lacing his drops with vocal chops and unique motifs. On “Truth,” RITN delivers exactly what I love about his sound: a funky bassline, brassy synths, and a perfectly sliced-up vocal sample. Don’t ask me how many times I’ve listened to this song — I’ve lost count.
Header — Midnight [Spinnin’ Next]
Say what you will about EDM, but David Guetta and MORTEN have influenced its next generation with their forward-thinking sound, dubbed ‘future rave.’ One rising star within this space goes by Header — there are only two releases under their belt, but both are equally impressive. “Midnight” comes to us via Spinnin’ Next, a sub-label of SPINNIN’ RECORDS dedicated to highlighting up-and-coming acts. This tune was clearly inspired by the future rave movement and proves to be a peak-hour slammer.
Ben B — Slow Down [Lowded Recordings]
I crave high-energy rave anthems, so I was thrilled when I found “Slow Down” by Ben B. Just like the others on this list, this artist is an entirely fresh face in dance music — in fact, this is Ben B’s first-ever release. I want to give a huge shout-out to Lowded Recordings for taking a chance on a new artist and signing this tune: “Slow Down” is a frenetic dance floor weapon.
Low Blow — Vibes [TurnItUp Muzik]
The best dance music comes from artists with vibrant personalities and the skills to let those qualities shine through their production: “Vibes” by Low Blow totally represents this idea. I’m a sucker for future house with excellent sound design and an exceptional mixdown, which is precisely what Low Blow deliver on this tune — in even simpler terms, this track bangs. Full stop.
Horyzon — Gravity [Dirty Workz]
I’m not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that this tune has brought tears to my eyes. It’s no wonder a label like Dirty Workz, an industry leader in the hard dance space, signed this track: Horyzon creates a perfect storm of trance and hardstyle on “Gravity.” I’m not usually one for euphoric hardstyle since I often prefer it rough and tough, but Horyzon completely changed my perspective. Play this one loud, and don’t forget the tissues.
Automhate — Ego Stream [Halcyon Music House]
Automhate is quickly becoming one of dubstep’s most promising acts, so imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this gorgeous, complex tune. The title track is easily the most unique off Automhate’s Ego Stream EP via Halcyon Music House, trading in heavy bass for a garage-meets-future-house dream. On top of its intricate arrangement, “Ego Stream” communicates visceral emotion through unconventional sounds.
Lil Texas — The Feeling [THRIVE MUSIC]
Though he’s typically recognized for his need for speed, Lil Texas trades in his signature uptempo flair for a heavy-hitting rawstyle anthem: “The Feeling” features Tex’s distinct kicks and rave-inspired vocal samples of choice, but with even more power at just 160 BPM instead of his usual 200. This tune really makes me impatient for the day I can sweat it out on the dance floor.
