Making Music with Pride: The 909 Ball
Join Plugin Boutique, Beatport, Roland, and Banjee Ball Foundation for Making Music with Pride: The 909 Ball, an evening celebrating the Queer origins and enduring influence of House Music.
Bringing together music creators, DJs, performers, and community members, we’ve put together a special program that explores the intersection of House Music, Ballroom Culture, and their continued influence on media and music creation today.
The evening begins with a community mixer before an in-depth panel discussion featuring Shaun Ross, Larry Tee, DJ Monte Cristo, and more who will share perspectives on the cultural impact and evolution of House Music and its roots within Queer communities.
Guests will then experience a live demonstration showcasing Roland’s iconic TR-909, with practical insights into drum programming, groove creation, swing techniques, and the sounds that helped define a genre. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win Roland prizes during a special giveaway.
Presented in partnership with Banjee Ball Foundation, the evening culminates in a live Ballroom demonstration and community ball featuring the categories of Vogue and Runway - art forms that developed alongside House Music and remain vital expressions of creativity, identity, and culture today.
Whether you're a producer, DJ, performer, or music fan, join us as we celebrate the legacy, innovation, and community that continue to shape dance music around the world.
