Matt Faulk Launches PUBLIC DOMAIN™ Label with High-Octane Single, "Rock The Party"
The inaugural PUBLIC DOMAIN™ release makes like its name, channeling clear club chemistry in the process.

Not all labels can shift culture, especially in a space as competitive as the music industry, but PUBLIC DOMAIN™ is well-positioned to do just that. Launched by rapidly rising DJ/producer Matt Faulk, the EMPIRE-backed imprint combines his compelling sound, sharp curatorial eye, and sense for resonant storytelling that has the capacity to not just engage but connect the masses.
In a past but not-so-distant life, the Vegas-based talent spent his time shaping the identities and future directions of marquee consumer brands like Beats by Dre, Google, Nike, Gucci, and Patagonia as the founder of BASIC®, a leading digital branding and product design agency. These days, he’s developing his own.
While Faulk’s pivot to DJing/producing is certainly a gear shift, it finds him applying the same creative muscle that won him success in the design services sector to the dance/electronic scene. This sounds like a driving and energetic brand of tech- and bass-influenced house music that both starts the party and keeps it going, and feels like pure, unbridled momentum in motion. PUBLIC DOMAIN™'s diamond-cut debut release, “Rock The Party," is an apt example. Listen below.
“This track felt like the perfect way to launch the brand. It’s not too underground, not too commercial. It lives in that sweet spot...and it’s tested really well in my sets. Summer felt like the right moment for it.” Faulk told Beatportal.
“PUBLIC DOMAIN™ is a new chapter for me. I have a clear vision for where it could go, but I also believe the best brands are shaped by the people who believe in them. It’s a platform for club records, inspired by the labels and artists that influenced my taste, like Catch & Release, Black Book, Dirtybird, Chris Lake, Chris Lorenzo, and others," he adds. "I’m drawn to tracks with strong basslines, bounce, and some type of emotional energy. I also tend to like tracks that have a driving aspect to them that progresses throughout the arrangement. As I move this label forward, these will be the throughlines of not just my music, but those I sign to the label as well.”
Since venturing beyond BASIC®, Faulk has steadily begun to command the West Coast’s dance/electronic live circuit with his residency at LIV Las Vegas, regular performances at Insomniac venues like Academy LA and Time Nightclub, and major North America festivals, including EDC Las Vegas – experiences that confer an astute eye for the pulse of both crowds and culture. In the months to come, Faulk will welcome additional releases of his own on PUBLIC DOMAIN™, as well as music from like minds. Rooted in fresh records calibrated for club impact, PUBLIC DOMAIN™ is a movement made for the dance floor, open to all.
