In a compelling new collaboration, Barbur and Rich Venom have joined forces to release “Monolith,” a brooding yet ethereal track that explores the emotional depths of melodic house.
Created entirely remotely, the track stands as a testament to synergy across distance, built through endless WhatsApp voice notes, emails, and video calls.
“We were both in a slightly melancholic and dreamy mood at the time, without even realizing it,” says Barbur. That unspoken alignment gave birth to a slow-burning composition, marked by lush synth layers, textured pads, and a breakdown that both artists cite as their favorite part.
“The breakdown is awesome,” Barbur adds, while Rich Venom notes its “dreamy and emotional vibes.”
Influenced by electronic heavyweights like Ben Böhmer, Monolink, and Worakls, Monolith balances atmospheric elegance with rhythmic precision. Tools like The Legend and Serum played a key role in shaping its immersive soundscape, helping the duo achieve a sonic universe that feels both intimate and expansive.
Though rooted in separate studios—and even different DAWs—the pair found harmony in their vision.
“This is quite an experimental step for both of us,” explains Barbur, reflecting on the eclecticism that shaped the project.
