There’s something for everyone on Armin van Buuren’s latest album, and at 51 tracks, how could there not be? The sprawling effort, from one of the most storied – and certainly, most chameleonic – acts in the game, seamlessly weaves across BPMs and genres, trance, progressive house, Afro House, and drum & bass included. It contains multitudes, contrast, and depth, all of which enable the project to strike the ever-coveted balance between the fresh and the familiar.
Breathe reaches completion on Armada Music after a two-part rollout that began with Breathe In last January. With Breathe Out, van Buuren brings the story of his ninth studio album, rooted in mindfulness, clarity, and self-acceptance, to a close. He does so with pomp, circumstance, and a litany of cross-genre collaborators, including David Guetta, Rob Swire, Moby, Vini Vici, and yes, even Bon Jovi. Listen below.
Breathe arrives hot on the heels of van Buuren’s recent back-to-back set at Sónar Festival alongside Indira Paganotto, who worked with the album-maker on what was both its final single and one of its most-anticipated IDs, “Dragon.”
