Beltran’s toolbox stays stocked with minimal and deep tech hardware that gets the job done at major North American festivals and intimate European discothèques alike. With TOOLS 4 HARDWORKERS 003 – the third installment in the EP series that started last December – the Brazilian visionary expands his supply of precision-crafted dance floor doozies, calibrated for maximum impact.

The latest project starts strong and seductively with “Tussi Blinder,” an opener that plays like a seamless fit for a shadowy speakeasy, soft with velvet furniture and curls of cigarette smoke that twist above ashtrays and scotch glasses. It’s a sexy, cinematic, and downright smart take on Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ “Red Right Hand,” the theme song for Netflix’s celebrated crime drama series, Peaky Blinders. Listen below.

After issuing a trance-inducing nod to pop culture, Beltran slows things down on the EP’s more viscous closer, “The Final Chapter.” The finale locks into the groove set by “Tussi Blinder” with the glitchy and idiosyncratic finesse that has not only won Beltran a cult-like following but also feels like sonic hypnosis, happening in real-time.

TOOLS 4 HARDWORKERS 003 is out now via Beltools Records.
