Beatport and Elijah Collaborate on New Content Series: 'If You Love Music, You’re Already a DJ'
The new link-up between Beatport and London-based DJ, writer and cultural connector Elijah launched this week (10 June) with a video exploring what being a DJ really means.

Beatport has teamed up with Elijah, the London-based DJ, writer and co-founder of the seminal Butterz label, for a new content series called If You Love Music, You’re Already a DJ.
The series launched this week with a video exploring what it means to be a DJ, and what happens when you separate the title from the act itself. It brings together Beatport’s ongoing You’re Already a DJ project with Elijah’s message: if you love music, you should learn how to DJ. You may recognise the latter statement from Elijah’s Yellow Square content, which he’s expanded beyond Instagram – where it began in 2021 – into lectures, workshops and more.
The series features online discussions covering key themes and alternative perspectives, where Elijah challenges traditional ideas around DJing and electronic music culture in 2025. It encourages music lovers to see the ways they already engage with music – making playlists, sharing tracks, connecting songs to moments – as part of the DJ experience, and aims to inspire more people to get involved. Special guest artists will also join with their perspectives as the series continues, alongside opportunities for viewers to take part in interactive ways.
Speaking on the aims of the collaboration, Elijah said: “There are likely millions of people that have curiosity around DJing, collecting music and making playlists – but maybe think it's something too out of reach, or something that is only worth doing if you want to ‘become a DJ full time’. But hopefully this framing – as a casual hobby that helps support artists you love and brings you closer to the music you enjoy – will spark another wave of new DJs.”
