Through the Third Eye: Fabian Sensestein’s Anja Bridges Instinct and Emotion
With Anja, Fabian Sensestein offers a rare glimpse into the subconscious - a soundscape sculpted by instinct, intuition, and winter introspection.

Conceived as a reflection on the innate, the track explores what we do without thinking, guided by a symbolic “third eye” that senses beyond logic.
“I wanted to create something that breathes,” explains Fabian. “Anja had to feel alive, intuitive, sincere - like an inner voice we rarely listen to.”
Crafted during the end-of-year holidays, Anja captures the emotional warmth of reconnection and the calm of seasonal pause. The piano, played through Komplete’s Noire and enhanced with intricate layers via Cut-O-Matic, becomes the emotional core of the piece. Subtle yet powerful spatialization work using Ableton’s Utility tool brings a sense of immersion and natural expansion, particularly in the outro - a moment Fabian describes as “almost like an exhale.”
Though not driven by external influences, the track shares a sonic kinship with Joachim Pastor’s Ultima Ratio in its atmospheric sensibility. Still, Anja remains deeply personal: a progressive, melodic composition shaped by experimentation, subtle dynamics, and restraint. “I spent a lot of time trying to give the mix space to breathe,” says Fabian, “especially in the outro. It was about finding that balance - letting go, but holding it together.”
Anja is more than a track - it's a meditative descent into the self, where sound meets spirit in a quiet, expansive dialogue.
