After a three-year hiatus, mau5trap’s We Are Friends compilation album series is kicking back into gear, with Vol. 12 set to land next January, Billboard reports. The latest installment in the label’s flagship series, launched in 2012, will continue to spotlight emerging and established artists within the mau5trap orbit and is currently seeking demos from artists aspiring to appear on one of the industry’s most-trusted vehicles for what – and who – is next up in dance/electronic music.
In addition to resuming We Are Friends, which has previously featured cuts from ATTLAS, i_o, Rezz, No Mana, and deadmau5 himself, among others, mau5trap is also taking its celebrated series to the stage. Its new residency of the same name touches down at Los Angeles’ Sound nightclub all summer long. Angelenos can catch sets from BlackGummy, ALLiZEN, and Jozik at the Hollywood venue on June 12. London will be in mau5trap’s company too, thanks to a special one-off We Are Friends evening at Unlocked Shoreditch on July 24, complete with a set from deadmau5 and special guests, still to be announced.
The news of the album series’ renewal and live offshoots comes just three months after Create Music Group’s $55 million acquisition of deadmau5’s and mau5trap’s catalogs.
