Australian-born, London-based DJ/producer HAAi has announced her next full-length record, HUMANiSE, arriving October 10 via Mute.
The first taste is “Satellite,” a celestial and glitchy collab with Jon Hopkins, Obi Franky, ILĀ, and the TRANS VOICES choir. Kicking off with a delicate, '90s rave-inspired emotions that are driven by its lulling vocals, the track dips into a refined rhythmic breakdown before fantastically emerging on the other end with bellowing synth lines that duck and weave as they go.
“Satellite” hits like a warm hug from across the cosmos — it's an uplifting sonic love letter and tribute to her late father that weaves together glistening rave motifs, two-step pulses, and ethereal choral textures. HAAi says it captures what HUMANiSE is all about: the beauty of human connection in a chaotic world. Obi Franky’s vocals are inspired by loss, long-distance love, and the quiet strength of just knowing someone’s energy is out there with you. Listen below.
With HUMANiSE, HAAi dives into themes of unity, queerness, and connection in an increasingly digital age. "This album is for my trans and queer family and our allies, to say thank you for lighting up every space you’re in," HAAi acclaims. "I will always be in your army.”
Built around collaborations with artists like Alexis Taylor, Hot Chip, KAM-BU, and poet James Massiah, the album is also a sonic evolution — integrating gospel choirs, glitchy electronics, and her own voice more than ever before. “Throughout the album, I kept thinking about a machine with a human heart,” she explains. It’s a vulnerable, future-forward work rooted in love, community, and the dance floor — and it arrives just as HAAi continues a global run of shows, including upcoming stops in LA, New York, and Glastonbury.
