Marie Vaunt descends into the deep with new techno weapon ‘Kurayami’
Back on HILOMATIK, Marie drops a dark, driving track that lives up to its name

Marie Vaunt is back on HILOMATIK with ‘Kurayami’ – a powerful solo follow-up to her 2024 collaboration with Belocca, ‘Lost In Rhythm’. In Japanese, ‘Kurayami’ means darkness or mystery, and that’s exactly what Marie channels with this track. As the shadows draw you in, her hypnotic blend of industrial techno leads you into a world where light fades and the unknown becomes your guide.
Marie Vaunt: “‘Kurayami’ came from a place deep within me, both sonically and culturally. I set out to create a techno track that captures the essence of darkness, not just as something heavy or brooding, but as something hypnotic, beautiful, and full of raw rave energy. The name means "darkness" in Japanese, and that heritage runs through every layer. I wanted the ritualistic vocals and dark textured synths to pull you into a trance-like state, like stepping into a shadowy shrine at midnight where tradition and rave collide.”
With ‘Kurayami’, Marie Vaunt is set for her second release on HILOMATIK. Her debut on HI-LO’s imprint was in October 2024, when she released the widely positively received techno thriller ‘Lost In Rhythm’. This tune saw spins from industry heavyguns, including Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Maddix, Ferry Corsten, KSHMR, Blasterjaxx, and Mariana Bo. Marie is a sought after artist with a packed touring schedule, as she’s booked to play shows in Canada, Spain, Germany, and America (3x) in May and June alone.
