The Beatportal Residency: Balmat
We get the sounds of Beatport's Label Of The Month for May

This week, The Beatportal Residency shines a light on Balmat, the ambient-leaning imprint founded by music journalist Philip Sherburne and Albert Salinas of Lapsus. Born from a shared passion for introspective and exploratory sounds, Balmat has quietly built a catalog of immersive, headphone-ready releases that drift between ambient, electro-acoustic, and experimental worlds.
Since launching in 2021, the label has released 16 albums, each offering a distinct take on atmospheric listening — from the field recording-rich “See-Through” by Patricia Wolf to the genre-pushing “1977” by µ-Ziq. Unified by a strong visual identity courtesy of José Quintanar and Josep Basora, Balmat isn’t just a label — it's a space where artists can express their most sensitive and sincere sonic ideas.
With transparency, physical releases, and a reverence for the ritual of listening at its core, Balmat continues to offer serene soundscapes for thoughtful moments, whether you're deep in nature, working in the garden, or simply looking to escape.
