The multi-genre band KAMM's latest release on Dave Aju's Elbow Grease imprint is more than just a record - it’s a heartfelt memorial to the life and legacy of Alland Byallo, an irreplaceable artist, friend, and former Beatport Art Director whose sudden passing in 2023 left a deep void across the global dance music community.
The new album, Let The Light In, crafted by surviving members Dave Aju, Kenneth Scott, and Marc Smith marks the group’s third and likely final project. Completed in the wake of Alland’s death, it stands as a luminous musical love letter to their fallen bandmate. Infused with the spirit of collaboration and uplift, Let The Light In weaves jazz, golden-era hip-hop, psych funk, soul, and deeply layered electronics into something both intimate and universal. It even features one of Byallo’s final paintings as the album’s artwork and closes with a touching chorus of his friends and family chanting the title’s namesake.
Alland was much more than a gifted musician. During his six-year tenure at Beatport as Art Director, he brought immense care, creativity, and humor to everything he touched - from branding campaigns to Beatportal features. He had an unmatched eye for design, a deep reverence for music history, and an endlessly supportive heart.
Let The Light In stands as a celebration of Alland’s creative soul and the beautiful community he helped build. We miss him deeply. Listen below.
