Legendary English rock band The Cure has announced a new remix compilation, Mixes Of A Lost World. Respected dance music artists including Four Tet, Daniel Avery, Âme, Orbital, and Mura Masa contributed works to the release.
Four Tet shared a few words about his remix on Instagram: “For quite a while I have thought that I’ve probably done enough remixes and intended to stop, but then this came along and I couldn’t miss out. I loved making it, and I’ve loved closing my recent shows with it. Respect to Robert Smith and the band, it’s such a great song.”
The new release coincides with The Cure’s latest album, Songs Of A Lost World. The original LP only includes eight songs, but there are 24 remixes in total. The package is due out on June 13.
Reflecting on the expansive series of remixes, Robert Smith, co-founder, lead vocalist, and guitarist of The Cure said, “Just after Christmas, I was sent a couple of unsolicited remixes of 'Songs Of A Lost World' tracks, and I really loved them. The Cure has a colourful history with all kinds of dance music, and I was curious as to how the whole album would sound entirely reinterpreted by others. This curiosity resulted in a fabulous trip through all 8 songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers, and is way beyond anything I could have hoped for. Giving our recording royalties from the project to War Child helps make ‘Mixes Of A Lost World’ an even more special release.”
