To celebrate the release of their new track Losing Control, we spent some time with Rendah and Nersha to talk about how they met, what makes their partnership work, and the creative journey behind their debut collaboration.
What started as a casual Instagram exchange quickly turned into something much more — an honest, open creative process that’s resonating on dancefloors everywhere.

“We were both up in Bristol and had crossed paths a few times,” says Rendah. “But we’d never actually introduced ourselves properly.”

That changed when he put a call out for vocalists on his Instagram story.

“Nersha replied saying she sings, and from there we organised to meet up in a studio and get to work.”

“I’d seen Rendah post about needing singers and thought — why not?” says Nersha. “We knew of each other, but it had never crossed my mind to collaborate. I had just started singing and wanted to be on a DNB track, so it felt like the right time.”

Their first session was at Pirate Studios. Nothing from that day made the cut, but it helped build a working rhythm.

“We’ve since adapted to how each other works,” Nersha says. “That’s made a big difference to our creative flow.”

The collaboration worked because of a shared openness.

“When we’re in the studio, I can be completely upfront and brutally honest,” says Rendah. “And she’s the same with me. That transparency is what makes it click.”

He also appreciated how Nersha was open to ideas beyond her role as a vocalist.

“She’ll suggest something about the track itself, and I might suggest a lyric or a melody. Most of the time, it just works.”

Nersha agrees:
“We both adapt to each other’s ideas. That’s rare. From the first session, it just flowed.”

Losing Control came together almost by accident.
Rendah originally had a Splice vocal on the track and sent it to Nersha for feedback.

“She told me another artist had already used that vocal and suggested she give it a go instead.”

“I said, ‘Let me try something,’” Nersha recalls. “We had planned to work on another tune that day, but once I heard the instrumental, I knew it had potential.”

With only about 30 minutes left in their session, they brainstormed lyrics and freestyled melodies until they landed something that stuck.

“By the end of the session, we’d recorded everything we needed,” says Nersha.

But finishing the track wasn’t easy.

“It was the first time I had to fully process a vocal over a long duration,” says Rendah. “It was a challenge. There were moments I got frustrated and thought about scrapping it, but I pushed through.”

For Nersha, the pressure came from it being her first release.

“I wanted the vocals to sit well in the mix. It only took a few attempts to get the melody right, and we went back and forth on the lyrics. But it all came together in the end.”

The trust they’ve built shows in how they speak about each other’s style.

“I’d describe Nersha as versatile and imaginative,” says Rendah. “She never fails to surprise me with how she blends different genres when she DJs.”

“I’d say Rendah’s sound is bold and energetic,” says Nersha. “You can tell how much time he puts into his production. Each tune gets better.”

For Rendah, Losing Control marks an important step in his process.

“It’s the first track I’ve made entirely in person with someone, not just sending files back and forth online. It’s made me want to do more studio sessions and connect with people properly.”

For Nersha, it’s even more personal.

“This is my first ever release. It made me realise that I love creating music. Working with someone who hypes me up and makes the process feel natural was the best part.”

The track has already made waves.

“Before it even dropped, I was getting loads of messages about it,” says Rendah. “Since the release, the support has been mad — people playing it out, fans singing it back at raves. That’s the best feeling.”

“Everyone seems to know the word ‘CONTROL,’” laughs Nersha. “Seeing people sing it at shows, even just that one word, is wild. It’s amazing knowing it might have been the highlight of someone’s night.”

They also credit social media for keeping the momentum up.

“We posted a snippet the day we made it,” says Nersha. “The reaction was instant. It motivated us to finish the track properly.”

When asked about their favourite moment in the song, Rendah doesn’t hesitate:
“The drop. It’s euphoric. As soon as the drums kick in, it makes you want to go crazy.”

For Nersha, it’s the line leading into the chorus.

“The build-up into ‘losing control’ sets the tone. It’s about someone who’s just had enough. Then the drop hits, and it all connects.”

The two aren’t done yet.

“We’ve been working on more tracks together,” says Rendah. “And I’ve got a release coming up with Comma Dee on May 9 — another vocal track that’s been a staple in my sets.”

Nersha is also looking ahead.

“We’ve got more collabs that might see the light soon. I’m also working with other producers and figuring out what sound I want to push. Plus, I’ve got some exciting shows and festivals coming up.”

What started with a DM is now a solid creative partnership — and Losing Control is just the beginning.
