Your name
Basura Boyz

What species of bird best describes you and why?
A Puffin, love their aura

How would you describe your music style in three words?
Hype Chicago house

What inspired your upcoming release, and what makes it special?
Sage had sent me over the start of a great beat and I knew we needed to get Gene on it. We had a great studio sesh and knocked out the vocal. This one came together so seamlessly and just felt right.

Can you share a defining moment in your artistic journey that shaped who you are today?
It was summer 2021 and the Covid blues were really hitting. I made music but it wasn’t supported at the time. My pal Dirt Monkey brought me out to one of his sold out shows in my hometown and played a song I had sent him. That was the first time I saw the vision that would be my music career.

What themes do you explore in your music, and why are they important to you?
The most important factor for me is: will this make the crowd dance? I feel like that is something that gets lost nowadays with festivals being more performances as opposed to let’s just make the people dance. keep it light, keep it fun!

What emotions do you want to illicit in your audience when they listen to your music?
I want to make people feel the same way I did growing up listening to all of these Chicago house legends we’re surrounded by in the city. Every performance is euphoric and hypnotic.

What is your creative process like when writing new music? Do you have any rituals or routines?
I have a dedicated studio space right down the street from my house that I share with my mate Jack Beats. I have literally nothing musical at my place and save it all for the studio. That really keeps me hungry and itching to go in as much as possible.

What challenges have you faced as an artist, and how did you overcome them?
I feel like at every level artists always want to do better than they currently are. Whether that’s getting turned down by a leave or getting passed up for a show. I think it’s really important to be resilient as an artist. Every thing you want to accomplish will happen with hard work and dedication.

What makes you stand out from other artists?
I like to make my music as organic as possible. Using analog gear (SOMA Rumble is my favorite right now) or even doing my own vocals just so you can create something nobody can replicate!

What’s the weirdest food combination you enjoy?
Grilled chicken and pineapple pizza

What is a random hobby you enjoy outside music
I’m a big basketball fan, Go Bulls!

Anything else you would like to add?
I’m so excited to be apart of the Dirtybird family. Growing up this was one of the most influential labels of my formative years and it’s really a full circle moment for me!
