Radiating pure rave energy since the 1990s, Italian DJ and producer Prezioso is one of the country's original party starters. He has collaborated with huge names in the game and as a talented turntablist, promises to dig out the hottest dancefloor records that raise the roof every time. Teaming up with Gabry Ponte, a neighbouring Italian dance titan, to release 'Discotek' on PENTAPHONIA LAB Vol.1, we invited Prezioso to Beaportal for an exclusive sit down chat.

‘Discotek’ is a huge track! Can you talk us through the creation process?

The original track, made in the early 2000s as Prezioso Feat Marvin, in the new version, we keep the vocal sample and re-adapted it to fit today’s modern club sound, with an energetic vibe that sets the dancefloors on fire.

The collaboration lands on Gabry’s PENTAPHONIA Records. What are your initial thoughts on the sound that the label is curating and the vision for its future?

I really like the label’s sound; it feels very aligned with my own harder hitting music tastes, and I wish them all the best as the label continues to grow!

You are known for your slick skills on the turntables, how did you first get into DJing? Any advice for people who might want to learn on vinyl?

Vinyl, aside from Sven Väth and a few others, is mainly used by DJs who do scratching. For those who want to learn, I recommend using vinyl with Serato in timecode mode, and they’ll discover a whole new world.

Before ‘Discotek,’ there was ‘Thunder!’ A huge collaboration between yourself and Gabry and LUM!X in 2021 which has over 600 million worldwide streams. In your opinion, what made this track such a success?

I think it came down to a series of different factors. At that time, there wasn’t a track like that, and it actually kicked off a new trend. I think the strength lies in the melody that resonated with everyone, especially with a much younger audience.

You’ve also collaborated with the likes of Blasterjaxx, Cuebrick, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and R3hab. Are there some producers/artists that you’d like to collaborate with in the future? And why?

The dream would be The Weeknd; I even saw his concert in Milan...who's going to pass my number onto him?!

What’s the last track(s) that you added to your USB?

"Heartless", my latest production with Braheim and Widemode.

If you could change one thing about the electronic music industry today, what would it be?

Too many releases! I would set a limit, like how you can on social media usage time.

What are your plans for summer 2025?

Touring around some of the best Italian music festivals and some exciting gigs abroad…see you around!
