DJ Koze has released his new solo album, Music Can Hear Us. The record includes 15 cuts spanning myriad genres over 65 minutes. Tracks like “Buschtaxi” and “Aruna” bolster the club-ready reputation of the Pampa Records boss, layering four-on-the-floor beats with intricate electronics and worldly instrumentalism.
But the LP goes far beyond the club. In furthering his resume of collaborations, DJ Koze, real name Stefan Kozalla, invited a series of impressive guests to contribute their artistry to the new LP. Gorillaz and Blur frontman Damon Albarn sings over an organic house backdrop on “Pure Love.” Sofia Kourtesis adds her Latin flavor to the simmering ambient composition, “Tu Dime Cuando.”
Reflecting on the core premise of the album Kozalla says, "For some time now, I have been working on the idea of revolutionizing aerospace tourism. In specific: traveling without moving. This is the closest I’ve ever come to it.”
This is Kozalla’s first full-length solo effort since 2018’s critically acclaimed, Knock Knock. Since then he co-produced Róisín Murphy’s 2023 album, Hit Parade, in addition to putting out numerous singles and remixes for artists like Annie Mac, Joseph Ray, and Radio Slave.
