Subtronics' new EP, Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion, will be out on April 4. This is the first half of his upcoming third album. The second half does not have a release date as of now.
Sonically, the first half hones to the genres that define Subtronics’ celebrated live shows. In checking out the previews available exclusively on Beatport, listeners will her sound-design heavy dubstep and hard-hitting bass music at various tempos. By contrast, the second half is set to feature an entirely different aural palette.
Overall, the title refers to the Fibonacci sequence, the series of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two previous ones. This pattern has been observed in various aspects of reality, from the curve in ocean waves to the number of petals on a flower.
Sharing how he integrated this natural phenomenon into his music, Subtronics says, “Part 1 of the EP conveys that all of reality, in its complexity and grandeur, originates from nature and the fundamental laws of the universe. It emphasizes the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio as intrinsic patterns that govern nature, not through divine intervention, but through physics. Building on themes of alternate dimensions and fractals, the Fibonacci spiral is presented as the foundational DNA of reality.”
Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion by Subtronics will be out April 4 via Cyclops Recordings. Pre-order it exclusively on Beatport.
