Deus Deserto strikes again with new, thrilling EP on HILOMATIK
Following the rhythm of the desert wind, Deus Deserto’s EP drifts through the techno landscape

Just shortly after his debut on the HILOMATIK imprint - Deus Deserto follows up with a double hard hitter called 'Drift / Katana'. This EP dives deeper into Deus Deserto’s signature sound — refined, driving techno with a shadowy, hypnotic rhythm. Each track, from Chromed Out to the newer Drift and Katana, moves with the precision of shifting desert winds, layering rolling basslines, sharp percussion, and haunting synths that echo like distant calls in the night. It’s a journey built for late hours and dimly lit dancefloors, capturing the raw energy of the underground.
Deus Deserto: “The Drift EP is a collection of my favorite tracks from 2024. Each track feels like an A-side — bold, immersive, and carefully crafted. While every piece takes the listener on its own journey, they come together seamlessly as a cohesive EP. ‘Drift’ started with the dramatic bassline arp — it had a cinematic feel, almost like a superhero video game. That’s when I came up with the idea for the Game Boystab sound on the beat. The guitar drones and breaks were inspired by Ludwig Göransson’s soundtrack for Tenet — I admired his approach to sound design and wanted to create my own interpretation. My goal was to craft a journey for the listener, and I believe Drift does exactly that.”
Also his B-side track ‘Katana’ has a special story behind it. “I’ve been fascinated by Samurai culture since I was a kid, and that passion still drives me today. When I stumbled upon a sample of swords clashing, it sparked the foundation of Katana. I built the track around it, layering Japanese percussion and flutes to create a bold, atmospheric soundscape. The drop comes in with a massive bassline designed to surprise the listener — the kind of moment that hits hard in a club or festival setting.”
Earlier this month, Deus Deserto dropped "Chromed Out," a collaboration with RooneyNasr, marking the first track of this EP. So far, the EP has received support from the industry’s biggest names, including HI-LO, Bassjackers, Blasterjaxx,
