Good morning refiners. ODESZA has released the first track from an upcoming EP based on the hit sci-fi workplace drama, Severance. The track is entitled “Entering Lumon (ODESZA Severance Remix).” It is one of four tracks to be included in Music To Refine To: A Remix Companion to Severance, which will be out on April 4 via Foreign Family Collective.
The revered alternative electronic duo produced the EP in collaboration with Apple TV+ and the show’s composer, Theodore Shapiro. For this first remix, they integrated the eerie piano theme and notable sound effects from the show such as the iconic “ding” from the elevator that signifies the characters switching between their innies and outies. The track takes those elements and swirls them into a glowing lo-fi beat along with atmospheric vocals and warm brass instrumentation.
Sharing their thoughts on the unique release, ODESZA says, “When Apple reached out to us to remix the Severance score in January we were so ecstatic to play with the themes and atmosphere of the show. We are huge fans of the series and it was an absolute honor working with the original score by Theodore Shapiro. We hope both you and your innie will enjoy the journey.”
This track and the remaining three are all parts of the mix entitled “Music To Refine To.” This eight-hour video, designed to soundtrack a work day, loops 23 minutes of music from ODESZA and pairs it with various visual themes from the show.
“Entering Lumon (ODESZA Severance Remix)” is available now. Purchase it on Beatport.
