After over a year of radio silence, GRiZ has made his grand return in a big way. He announced his festival, Seven Stars, and also put out a new four-track release, GEMiNI EP. The multi-faceted artist made his departure from the spotlight after releasing a remix of John Summit’s hit collaboration with HAYLA, “Where You Are.”
“Life is really good, and I often make myself too busy to see just where I am and how far this project has come. I’m following my gut instincts for now, I’m not going to put a hard time limit length on the break,” GRiZ wrote on Instagram.
Between then and now, rumors of GRiZ’s return sparked with a set at Burning Man and a teased collaboration with Grabbitz, but he officially broke the silence on March 11 with a video of him tending to a farm with a tractor while jamming out to his signature flowery dubstep.
The first major announcement was his Valley of the Seven Stars camping festival, set to take place in Arlington, Virginia this October. This news included a heartfelt message about his return:
“Woah this feels soooo lovely to be back with you again!!! I have so much to share with you all about my time off, but! I wanted to start with this thing i am maybe the most excited ive ever been in my career about!” GRiZ wrote in the post. “Im so so so overjoyed to share with you …our first full blown music festival SEVEN STARS!!”
Then a few days after that, he announced the GEMiNI EP as well:
“This feels reallllly good to say— I finally get to share new music w you! I’ve been working on so so many things and it was really tough to pick which ones so I decided on a few things from all across the universe of sounds I’ve been traveling through.”
